Hey fellas
A friend of mines showed me a pic of what the new mustang is going to or is slated to look like.

A foxbody.!!!!

I love foxbodies and have owned a few probably like most of you guys. Let me know what you think. I think it looks ok, although it’s just a rendering. I also know there’s a few leaks of what the new version is going to look like, but this is going to be interesting to say the least.

thoughts?

That just looks like a modified foxbody… the current mustang is an homage to the first gen fastback, but looks nothing like it. This is not a new car, just a foxbody that’s been modded. Also, foxbodies are amongst the ugliest cars ever made.

I love a good fox (hatch, not a fan of the notch) but that doesn’t do anything for me. Front end looks all wrong, in my opinion.

The test is….were you able to swallow it.
What’s your reasoning?
I acknowledge that the foxbody is a cult favourite (somehow).... BUT

I've personally never liked them and the design looks entirely dated to me, no matter how many LED lights and unnecessary side scoops they added.

The S197 (and the S550, to a much lesser extent) was "new" retro, a few styling cues from older mustangs but this rendering (photoshop, if I had to guess) is too much retro with a few uninspired "modern" styling cues.

It just looks like an 80's car. It had its time. Done. I don't think a comeback would work.

Not a chance in hell. That ship sailed.

I remember years ago, just before or slightly after the 05 came out, there was a little rumbling about doing a retro version for the foxbody.

Now to say the foxbody is ugly just plain wrong! The Sn95 is thee ugliest mustang ever! A tie with the 71-74 models.

The 60’s mustang had their time too, and homage was paid to them with the 15-current models.

It's just an opinion, it can't be "wrong". You can disagree with it all you'd like, though :)

Eh, I disagree. The 96-98 sn95 can look pretty good. I like the tail lights (the 94-95 were ugly IMO). The cobra hood transforms it a bit, too (non R).

The one I bought had the hood previously replaced, under warranty, and the insurance company used a cobra hood instead of oem. Lowered, a set of black rims, and an 18" long pair of exhaust tips made it quite a looker. It doesn't hold a candle to my 19 GT, but I'd take it over a foxbody any day.

I have a pretty wild theory based on the latest emblem reveal and it isn't a fox throwback.
notice how the background is not black?

i think its one of the best mustang designs hindered by poor quality control and goofy 90's afterthought sideskirts.

I never cared for these. They look too much like a woman's, um, massager.
