I’m just gonna throw this out there and maybe it’s been discussed. I don’t understand why we have 7g/S650 threads linked on here. Maybe they will go away once they are in full swing. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think that was also because the V6 isn't very modifiable and most of the owners end up switching to a GT after a while. It didn't help that Ford ended up making the V6 only available with the base trim. A far cry from the S197 refresh in 2011. Back then you could actually get a premium V6 with performance pack. Wonder how incredibly rare one of those is...
Agreed, I had a 2016 V6 and I left it stock from a performance standpoint just because there’s only so much you can do. Procharger or turbo, ported IM and/or a tune is about it (can do e85 too). It was a stepping stone for me anyway so the plan was to leave it stock to get the most back for it anyway. It was clearly on its way out though with only the base option as you mention. For a late teens/early 20’s driver, it’s a good entry point into the pony/muscle/sports car arena though.

I'm more concerned about part availability, both OEM and aftermarket. I know the S650 isn't truly a new platform so brakes will be compatible, maybe suspension and other things also.
I wouldn’t worry about that for a while. There’s still lots of aftermarket support for Foxes, SN95’s and S197’s. S550 will be no different. As far as OEM, they’re required by law to carry parts for X years after final production so they’ll be available for a while yet

Why? Look at the SN95, There are still plenty of parts available for them and its been almost 20 years since they were last built. It will be the same for the S550 in 2043. The electronic dash may be an issue, but we at least have an option to go non-digital when they need to be replaced. The same may not be said for the S650 and its iPads at that point. Too much tech in them. The more tech, the less part availability later down the road.

Just promoting their 7G site to get it going IMO. Once people start taking delivery and that site starts to really get going, I wouldn’t be surprised if they let it stand on its own. Just marketing on their part. Doesn’t bother me, I just skim past the 7G stuff here if I’m not interested. But everyone has their own feelings about it

I think there’s a lot of truth here. The Mustang II saved the Mustang back in the oil crisis/MPG crackdown. The S650 is keeping the V8 alive when its competitors are getting out. And I know I sound like a broken record, but Farley is on record saying that an ICE V8 is not off the table for the 8th gen, provided there’s enough consumer demand for it. That’s still a ways off but fingers crossed that holds true

I kind of think of the S650 as the second coming of the Mustang II. Some good things may come out of it but its still the ugly inbred 2nd cousin from Arkansas.
its really more like the 1971. like the outgoing version but heavier, and less beautiful because its just a wild stab at something different from the last gen while going for something more trendy.

that's why it looks like a camaro from some angles, an acura from others, and the rear looks like a shitty GTA car.

As MAGS1 said it’s also what could save the V8 and the Mustang as we know it, just like the Mustang II did.
