Hi all, I'm new here. I was fishing around for winter info and landed here a bit ago. It was very informative.
I went for Blizzaks on 19" Motegi rims on my GT PP because of price and also the ease of cleaning since there's no hard to reach shapes on the rims. I also went non-staggered so I can rotate them out winter to winter.
If someone is lurking on the forums and wondering if it's really that big of a difference from summer tires, let me tell you. I already got caught by an early cold snap and drove in 10 degree weather on the summer tires. The cold literally turned them to tupperware. As much as accelerating was a problem, I was left feeling very unsafe for an emergency stop, even though there was no snow yet. Literally, it's like driving a bigwheel with plastic tires. Don't do it.
The Blizzaks are already a huge difference even on a mild 30 degree day. Don't drive on those summer tires in low temps. It's very dangerous and will wreck the tires!
I figured there may be others looking to see what a budget choice looks like so they are:
