With news of the 2018 GT coming in and with options of mag ride and dual mode exhaust what do you all think of its performance? I'll bet we see a hp bump also. Could it be close to the performance of the GT350? If ford bumps the hp to 450 - 455 I highly doubt it'll be close to the performance of a gt350. Especially with the weights of both cars being close to each other. But the magride will no doubt help it in the corners. Also don't forget the A10, this is going to be a game changer and provide a close range power band.

I'm guessing with all the other goodies there won't be too much of a power bump. I mean, honestly, 435 is plenty for a majority of the people who drive on the road.

Those who want to drag/track will end up with a list of bolt-ons/power adders to get them where they want to be and 435-450 is a great place to start.

If they follow the steps they went with the S197 there were small power bumps but mostly just small changes.

yea, but the car NEEDS a power bump. The 6th Gen SS dominates the car on the track and strip. 450hp+ is a must.

If ford adds the GT350 performance pack 3 complete system that adds 37 hp to a stock 5.0 and it's already proven. That's an easy upgrade they can do for next to nothing. 472hp stock 5.0. Plus it's 50 state legal already! That's a win win for ford.

If I were Ford I'd be focused on weight loss for the S550, adding power is easy.
Yeah adding HP is easy when they already have the parts. Reducing weight isn't easy on an existing car. 2018 isn't going to be a weight loss. That's for the next platform.

Not if they can still charge extra $$$ in the aftermarket for the same parts. ;)

What do you mean. Ford performance kit is all ford OEM parts. Not a aftermarket kit.

Yes, all Ford parts, but they won't just throw them on the car for no charge. All I'm saying is more power/parts = more $$$. It's hard to justify raising the price of a vehicle to consumers due to weight loss.

At the end of the day, they're a business who needs to make money. They have the 3 stages of "Performance Packages" available to purchase directly from Ford now and they make profit from that.

Adding those parts to the 2018s is just going to drive the price up not really benefitting anyone but Ford.

I'm all for more power, don't get me wrong, but looking at it from a consumer aspect I'd rather have a lighter car to start and pay for power rather than have to worry about weight loss.

But yet you think weight reduction is cheap? I have a 2016 GT350 track pack. I've spent over $22000.00 on weight reduction mods, including suspension mods.
The wheels and tires were $7700 and saved 52 pounds total.
The rear seat delete was $1800 and saved 32 pounds total.
The Reacro profi spa carbon seats were $4800 and saved 77 pounds total.
The DSS carbon driveshaft was $1100 and saved 10 pounds total.
The ARH exhaust was $1500 and saved 20 pounds total.
Total of 191 pounds.

Good luck to you if you think fords gonna drop over 50 pounds off the car for free.

What about a lithium battery? Those should save ~20 lbs off stock for about $500 max.
