Will America again move to smaller vehicle (no politics)

My new daily driver. 35MPG on 87 Octane. Save wear and tear on the Mustang. It may be "smaller", but it's not smaller on the inside. I'm not a truck or SUV person. That being said.

These things are hard to get hold of. Got pretty lucky though.

As a person who drove small trucks (or lorries as they call them in the UK) in Ireland (North and south) I can attest to not being able to fit two vehicles abreast VERY frequently.
I still recall the day I was travelling between two cities, 60 mph, mirror dragging in the hedge on one side, similar sized lorry approaching from the other direction, when our mirrors collided in the middle.
The Mustang is a very wide vehicle by international passenger vehicle standards.
Many of your SUV’s (for example) would be far too cumbersome to use on a daily basis unless you were able to stick to the motorways (highways) almost exclusively.

There are many reasons why people typically opt for smaller vehicles in the UK, physical size is just one of them.

Now you are equating engine size with physical size. Even the simplest Google search will confirm the physical size of these cars compared to US home grown cars.

F150 - 2430mm wide
Current Range Rover 1904mm
Last V12 Jaguar (1997 XJ12) 1770mm

Mustang 1916mm

Very few cars over 2000mm here simply because they don't fit. Those that live over here know you are talking b*llsh*t
