I wonder how many people would pay what Ford is asking for the Mach 1 if it had all the hardware but no Mach 1 badges or graphics, just GT badges. I feel like a lot of the promotion for the Mach 1 is exactly what we heard when they introduced the PP2. Seems like it's the Bullitt engine plus the GT350 transmission plus a tweaked PP2 suspension. I'm not hating, thinking about buying one, just saying I'm trying to see through all the marketing.

I must be missing something, but I don't see how minor cosmetic changes make a huge difference. Isn't this kind of like the California Special, just another trim package?
Are you pulling our leg? Cannot believe you haven’t read up on this new model since it was introduced last year. Suffice it to say that it is a lot more than just a trim package.

No, they wouldn’t. But the Mach 1 is a special name in Mustang history. And that is why people are paying the price for it.

Yep I'm thinking about spending a bunch of cash for the name. Car's not that much different than mine, except for the badges.

Sorry, but I don't pay much attention to that kind of stuff, unless it's an actual new car. It sure looks like the the 2018 - 2020 Mustang. Doesn't it have the same running gear?

Except when they use the name on a crossover. So much for history eh?

And the suspension, transmission, motor, cooling, you know, little details. I mean the only difference between my car and a GT500 is the badge, right?
It’s all relative. It might perform better, but the question is how much better? If my car was a stock PP1 then sure, the Mach would be faster around a track. The way my car is set up now, maybe it would and maybe it wouldn’t. It definitely wouldn’t be faster in a straight line. I hope Car and Driver runs one on the Lightning Lap to see how it compares objectively to a PP2.

It's kind of pointless to compare modded cars to factory models. Sure, we can both pour money into mods and wind up with a faster car than any of the factory trims. But, you can't go into a dealership and ask for the @Mikthehun1 Edition or a GT-@Mikepol2.
For sure. The only point in comparing our modded cars to it is that we’d notice much less of a difference if we traded in on a Mach than someone with a car that’s still stock. Ford made a lot of changes / improvements for the Mach - I just am curious to see if that translates into measureable improvements at the track over a PP2.

The cooling will likely give it much better longevity before/if it goes into limp-home mode. It's too bad they wouldn’t pair the 10R80 with the HP.
😉😉
  • Ford has announced that the 2021 Mustang Mach 1's optional Handling package will add $3500 to the price of the car.
  • It'll also now be available with the 10-speed automatic as well as the standard six-speed manual transmission.

The 10R80 still gets extra cooling, luckily. Not sure how they've set it up, if the handling package isn't manual exclusive, or if the 10R80 itself comes with the extra coolers independently of the rest of the option list.

According to the chart on post #58, HP is only being paired with the manual. Unless the chart lies...
Right, that's how I understood it too. But I'm 99% sure I read somewhere that 10R80 Machs are still getting additional transmission cooling that standard GT's do not get.
