Why is it that the 2022 mustang gt has 10 less horsepower yet is 2 thousand dollars more expensive?

Virtually all goods now cost more than last year, mostly due to shipping costs of parts and raw materials from other countries. The 10HP loss will be seen by many cars this year, it has to do with how HP is calculated more than any actual losses. Used cars are up, new cars are up.

the big problem with this situation is that it is so unnecessary .....

For the same reason that dogs lick their nether regions (it's because they can).

Like seriously wtf? Is it lighter at least? If its just 100 lb lighter that could cancel out the 10hp difference

but they also increased the msrp by 2k :/

i mean i guess technically 450hp is still pretty damn good and still better to buy a 2022 new than a 2017 used which will pretty much cost the same and have less hp.

God damn it.

I hope ford performance releases a nice tune that adds hp like they did with the ecoboost.

Like yeah I get it 10 hp may not be noticeable, but its still 10 hp and who doesn't look at specs and when you're paying 2k more for a car with 10hp less, that sucks! I really should have pulled the trigger in the summer :(

Anyone else buying a 2022 GT? Anyone else in this +$2k -10hp boat with me?
The HP "Change" is on paper, nothing more.
Same 0-60 and time down the 1320.

I have just ordered a 22 GT.
Price here in Australia is $1250 more, and I won't notice the 10 HP.
The difference between a "good" one and an average one would be more than that.

I understand 10hp is not a huge deal but buying a new car is a big deal for most of us.
If I was in the market for a new 22 GT I would also be annoyed the my car has 10 less hp and costs an extra 2G.
At minimum it should have an extra 10hp than the previous model even though you will hardly notice the difference , it would still make my purchase decision a lot easier to swallow. Not many cars bring out the newer version with less power , on paper anyway.

It's not 10HP less actually, it's just rated 10HP less. It's a change in in the way ratings are calculated, nothing more.

does that mean all cars will be rated lower HP to previous year with same engines?

don't worry, we'll do the same here too. We're about 12-18 month delay. We haven't gone full green retard yet. But by god, we're trying!!
We were headed in the right direction for a little while. Hopefully we can get back on track in 24', but I fear the snowball has already started rolling downhill. 🙁
