I understand the money part, and agree the Mustang is a good value. But you're not spending $7K plus the cost of the above car, and doing tens. Also, while it's certainly reliable, it's not "well-appointed" at all.

It must be said that's an incredible price on that car.

But I'd think more like another 15K to get it into the 10s. Especially if you're paying for labor.

I would think that in the long run, it would be cheaper to spend a bit more on the car, getting a PP1/A10 car, and then super-charging it. That way you've got the cooling, brakes, suspension, etc., etc.

Not with today's mindset regarding feature content, I suppose.

An interesting point.

Vehicle buyers no longer value "luxury" in the old sense, of leather, comfort, perhaps some wood, creature comforts. Now it's all about "tech", electronic doo-dads.

I was watching a video review on the latest Lexus LS500, with the $26,000.00 "Executive Package". It had what I would call "real Luxury". Space, amenities, leather, wood trim, etc., etc. It even had Art Deco glass inserts in the doors.

I was astonished. I didn't know they still made cars like that.

Well, make it $42K then. Still a smokin deal for a new car that runs 10's, has most needed creature comforts, and will be damn reliable. .

Here is my car costs. That new car is about 3 grand more than my 14 was.
My car is probably about 100 lbs lighter than new one's, but new one's can take way more boost (power) than gen 1's.

14 GT (auto as only option)-------- $27, 529

305/35-18 MT STREET S/S DR--$629.90
AMR -18X10 and 18X8 RIMS ---$559.96 (used stock 235's up front)
UPR X-pipe------------------------$259.46
Roush Stg 3 TVS------------------$6199.99
SCT tuner and VMP tune---------$712.64
Octane boost----------------------$59.98
Roush upper control arm---------$253.95
Roush alum lower control arms---$200.00
Lightweight battery/terminals-----$120.25

Total---------------------------------$8996.13

Free stuff-------
Removed spare/jack/trunk carpet
Homemade rear seat delete (cardboard and some black fabric)
Removed mats

Total--------------------------------- $36.525.13

Actually the topic was the 7.3 truck engine that no one in their right mind would put into a S550. But that was 3626 posts ago so who the hell remembers, or cares.
Well, I didn't change the topic, just continued the spam on it :) Happens in almost every thread.

Indeed. If a shop is going to install everything above, double the numbers above (minus the vehicle cost). While installing a screw style supercharger isn't rocket science, if you aren't careful, there's a lot of things that could go wrong. Nice work on installing all that yourself.

Of course, if you don't wrench, will have to compare closer to factory offerings.
Then again for $44K, auto, 3 yr warantee and CARB cert........ https://www.lebanonfordperformance.com/2020-supercharged-mustang-for-42495/

Just have to prioritize straight line speed over cornering and doodads, but these new stangs, even in base GT trim, handle and brake pretty good (without PP1 even).
