The C8 Vette Z-51 weighs 3647 lbs without the occupant. 1992 notch 3038 with the original 5.0 add another 250lbs for the 7.3 that's about 3288 lbs without the occupant. subtract the aftermarket k member probably 30lbs under stock so 3258lbs. That's a light car with such a big motor. All you need is 600 wheel to hit the low to mid 9's with that car and it can be driven daily...
Just a procharger away from 600 wheel.

It'll be a light car with even crappier weight distribution than stock. The problem is going to be getting only that much power to the ground, especially if you're going to street-drive it.

You won't get an S-550 or S-197 to hit low to mid 9's with just 600 WHP. You need 800 WHP to do low to mid 9's.

Exactly. Now what's the difference between a Coyote and an old 5.0 weight wise?

Lighter than the common 460 swap.

Key is weight transfer from a stand still. That's where the C8 shines. All that weight on the rear axle really helps it hook (among other computer controlled nannies). A nose heavy car, even if it weighs less, would be slower off the line in most cases.

Once the cars are at speed, then it's mostly power to weight ratio

Sorry to jump into the conversation, but this.

A rear/mid-engine 495HP Corvette does 0-60 in around 3 seconds because rear/mid-engine. A 911 does the same with 443HP because rear-engine. And they both do it all day, every time. It doesn't take a special day/place for it to happen.

Our 460+HP cars take 4.5 seconds 0-60 on the best day, with our best launch, because front engine.

The physics is against Mustangs in drag races. Which is why I've never understood folks trying to turn them into drag cars.

The c8 corvette is slow, it quickly runs outta steam at the 330 ft mark. I’d take a 2019 c7 zr1 every day of the week over a c8..

Ever seen a cobra jet car run at the track?

Boost defies physics!

I would love a Lingenfelter C7 (or really any other model)
I'm a bit biased since that's my family name though.

It's because drag racing got started with, and grew up with, front-engine RWD cars. All other engine placements came later, and that includes top fuel.

Drag racing is very much a "run what ya brung" activity, and there was a time when the only cars with decent power and quarter mile performance were Front Engine/V8/RWD.

Traditions die hard, and too many drag racers don't understand that physics doesn't grant exceptions even to them.

As far as engine placement is concerned, the Cobra Jet's performance is more in spite of what it is than because of it.

This thread is like the Walking Dead, it just won't die!

I don't think anyone ever said the 7.3 didn't have potential. the reason it ballooned to 250 pages is the OP wanted it as is delivered in a F-250 in a Mustang which most people agreed was dumb.

It is impressive to see what ford performance is doing
