So something new showed up in town, courtesy of my American friends. I figure i got it beat in weight, and off the line to 60mph, but who takes the 1/4 mile? Who has the best power to weight ratio? Clearly some questions to be answered. So if you guys got a driver, lets go get some answers!

$220,100,000 shootout, Time to place your bets, looser picks up the bar tab not the fuel tab. But remember only one can heat up their tires!

1/4 mile? Sheesh.... GT500 all the way. That is if the C17 is operating under nominal loads.

Its all about weight..... i used to fly 747s and they would take forever to accellerate, but in the end, they would. Its an exponential accelleration, but at 1/4 mile? The 500 shouldn't have any problem.

Andy: Tom is absolutely correct as the rapid acceleration of a military transport or any turbojet that size, only occurs near the end of the run, way past a quarter mile.

Drawing from my memory banks, Don Garlits raced a carrier catapult with a weight on it with his rail car and won. Now that's acceleration.

yes, jet engine horsepower increases exponentially with an increase in velocity.

I watched a C17 fly by this week, using China Lakes' range (prolly countermeasures testing) BAD BIRD! Still will take the 500 in a sprint Alex.
Love to see the video, popcorn ready!

I'd buy you boys a beer any day.

Nice avatar, Tom...me thinks it has a hidden meaning. :-)

Gonna use "Delivered," too? <bigger grin>
Nope, just Christmas in August. I thought there was a glimmer of hope, but it was promptly dashed.

Id call it even if Ford offered me a GT heritage edition...

Just sayin'........

This has been around for some time but for those that have not seen it.
