Who needs a FL2087 oil filter? Act Fast

I ordered 10 o-rings from AutoNation Ford. Only .55 cents a package. I think it comes with 2 o-rings per package, but not 100% certain. They were a special order, but at least I'll have a bunch.

Nope. O-ring part # is per O-ring. So you need two per filter.

I ordered mine with the O Rings, he sent them with the filters. Just remember to specify them.

I'm going to update this thread to warn folks to order Orings with the filters. I just checked, and shipping is crazy expensive for such a low cost item.

Yea, I know.... I got bit by that one before it was known. Either way, we all have the ability to get an oil filter..... for now. I dont know how many he has, but I was told a lot.

My own dealer asked me how the hell I was able to find any at all when I asked about the orings.

At least now the problem is manageable.

I didn't even think to look before ordering because previous filters I bought - same one - came with 2 o-rings. Don't know why the most recent order didn't have them. Could be permanent, could be a temporary issue caused by a lack of o-rings to include........

Permanent… according to the Ford dealer this morning. The parts department manager said they received a bulletin from Ford that indicated that the dealers were only supposed to replace the o-rings if they are damaged.
He had no info on how to inspect, or what constitutes damage requiring replacement. I was unable to get a copy of the bulletin either… not that it doesn’t exist, he just didn’t have the means to accommodate.

I looked in the manual. It says to replace the Orings during each filter change. Every FL2087 filter i have ever purchased always had Orings. Why all of a sudden no Orings? I have no idea.

I dont know why the orings are depicted to be removed/replaced every time in the mannual, but I feel they are durable enough that they dont. My opinion is just that. It would be nice if Ford had some info about it.

Got a call from Dealer here local to me. Filters are starting to appear here in Texas.

I'll give it a try............ I spent $2200.00 on an oil change last week, so they kind of owe a little love I believe.

Wonder if we could just use o-rings from the K&N and other aftermarket filters...

As far as I know, it is still available, just an inventory issue for whatever reason. As to the reason for the o-ring issue--------Unknown..!!!!!
