I added a JL Microsub to a base Shaker (no Sub) a few weeks back and was completely disappointed. I generally drive with the top down and just noticed last week that the bass is pretty good with the top up but as soon as you unlatch the top the bass drops dramatically. At first I thought it was just the fact that it was a vert but the pause in sound after unlatching and the immediate drop in bass makes me think the engineers are playing games.
I just changed the EQ setting via the "As Built" interface in ForScan and it didn't make any difference at all. The front speaker was tapped for signal because the installer said the rear sounded even worse. Should we be tapping somewhere else? What else can I do. I'm hating the sound of this thing at the moment and know it has the potential to be a lot better.
