Getting ready to do a stage 2 Whipple install in my otherwise stock 2022 GT A10. I decided to do an oil change and move up to the 5W-50 that Whipple recommends. I wanted to watch oil pressure and get an idea of what the new "normal" would be with the heavier oil without having the variable of the SC already installed. Basically an 18-20 PSI increase in oil pressure with it hitting 100 psi with a heavy throttle (OEM digital dash). Then I realized a change in my "tick".
I have previously written off the intermittent tick that I have as "normal". It wasn't loud, it was intermittent and half the time when I wanted to show a fellow car guy the noise, it wouldn't happen for me.
Until this 5w-50 (syn Motocraft) was put in. Wow, now its audible from a distance away, intrusive (outside the car), and somewhat embarrassing... It has never been this loud in 16k miles. I'm literally going to pony up for another $100.00 and put 5w-30 back in the car and see if it goes away.
Question: If it goes back to what I'm used to (tick), I'm almost certain I will leave 5w-30 in the engine even after the SC install. Thoughts?
