but the clutch is gonna be the ticket (and literally a big ticket item at that).
Can someone recommend an aftermarket clutch for a daily driven Bullitt?
Maybe the pull my gearbox on waranty in October, could be the moment to get an other clutch without paying for labour.

i installed the FTB shfter bracket and a shelby short throw shifter from fleabay, all in $225. I got better things to spend $650+ on for the car.

I run a Ram Pro Street cerametallic twin disc in my Bullitt. It handles daily driving, drag strip runs and road trips very well.

cant speak for MGW but Barton makes a basic flat stick for 300 and some change if you donā€™t need all the hybrid stuff-n-things šŸ˜‰

Why might your transmission be pulled for warranty work in the near future? Just curious as to what kind of trouble youā€™re having with it?

Abnormal vibrations from the gearbox when coasting in the medium rpm range in all gears.
Using the engine brake by downshifting at high speeds on the Autobahn is worrying.
I would say either transmission input shaft, clutch or dual mass flywheel as the cause (vibrations depend on rpm not speed).
I am now at 24,000 mls, but did it from the beginning, I am sick of it now...

Hopefully theyā€™ll get you taken care of and put in a better clutch for little to no cost at all. Please keep us posted on this.

To reiterate, all 3 are great.

I almost went with a Steeda myself but got a Killer deal on a Barton. The main thing is that I wanted to retain the OEM style lockout which the MGW does not. Just my personal preference.
A nice feature were the different mounting options, trans or body mount.

A lot of people want the manual experience but complain about it. Keep in mind that the gearbox and clutch is a mass produced item made in China and turkey respectively. (Gotta keep the bean counters and those wallets happy)

With that being said a major upgrade in shifting experience for low cost can be had with a quality fluid, trans bushing, and upgrading/replacing the clutch spring.

When your clutch blows (and it will) a huge gain in preference can be had with an aftermarket clutch. Don't forget the steel braided clutch line. I like the OEM qualities so I went with an EXEDY MACH 500. I didn't need the experience of doing leg presses like I did in past car builds. :cwl:

With all those options you can have your choice of either having the feel and experience of having your hand in the trans tunnel like another member or just a minor firming up of the shifting experience. Whatever one you go with, I think your gonna love the end result.

If you wanna go budget friendly, several companies offer just the shift lever for around the ~$130-$150 mark.

I donā€™t have experiences with any other shifter, I got the MGW XPEC standard and it is simply wonderful.

Also I was able to re use my aftermarket OEM shifter and lockout without any modifications, so I can maintain the factory look.

Installation was a breeze on a car lift while following the installation video.

Went with the Hurst shifter mainly for the aesthetics.. It was a tough installation, instructions have 80+ steps. I took my time and although time consuming it went well. It has a 38% reduction in throw reduction. It stiffens up the shifting for sure, but now that Iā€™m used to it I like it.
ā€˜I went with a Hurst theme, grille, rear deck, etc as Iā€™m an old guy and was around when Hurst was king.
Having said all that i would probably go with MGW or Barton if I did it again with a 25% reduction.
