I think the easiest route is to buy an irrigation valve from amazon, cut an inch or two out of the hose, insert the valve, profit. Then you can test which way sounds best to you.

I removed mine only a couple of hours after getting the car, so I can't tell if it does any difference

Reason for removal was installing the catch can on that side of the block.

However I want to confess... When seeing people doing the rip-out trick I was like, please it is not that hard to get that nut off. But eventually after cursing for 15 minutes while trying to remove the nut I did the rip-out method and it worked like a charm

With the sound tube out of the car it was much easier to get down there and plug the firewall hole to the cabin.

What exactly is the purpose of the sound tube?
Providing some of the intake / engine noise into the cabin. It's literally a plastic tube connecting intake with firewall.

Hello,

Can you please help me identify the GT sound tube from the plethora of tubes and pipes under the bonnet? I'm guessing it's the one I've marked in the picture. Am I right?
If not, then can someone please mark the correct one?

Thank you.
Follow those red arrows all the way to the firewall and DELETE IT! You will need to cap off the intake tube port as well.

OK, I disconnected the sound tube from the intake and plugged both holes. The difference is very subtle. The cabin has not become quieter at all, it's just that the sound seems to be a bit cleaner now. I can clearly hear engine noise from the front, and exhaust noise from the rear. Previously I used to hear exhaust noise from the rear, but engine noise from all around me. And the engine noise itself has become a bit less 'rumbly'.
But it's very subtle. So subtle that I'm not even sure how much of it is real and how much is placebo.

I do like it, though, and I do not intend to plug the sound tube back. I'll order a delete kit and will remove it altogether.

FYI, I removed mine from the firewall from under the car, with a small ratchet, a few extensions and an elbow.. and yeah, get the delete kit and plug both ends...I think I got my delete kit from Boomba Racing for less than $30, and the intake plug is nice machined anodized aluminum color matched to the paint of the car.....

I plugged mine today in a slightly different way as I wanted to keep the OE look :

Everything went back together and it looks completely ‘normal’ :like:

I was able to remove mine without breaking it by just yanking it up. The nut can stay there forever.
