Some love it some hate it.
I'm fine with it ... you can get used to it.

The system in our 2020 Explore ST is actually very picky on how you drive. If you drive super straight and don't make any tiny corrections it thinks either you aren't holding the wheel or are falling asleep!

Wifey and I actually got into a big fight over it on our recent vacation trip. I found the behavior mildly entertaining but she was pissed about it. So I just shut the damn feature off.

because you have/had "driver attention" still on.

this is what I have now. it is missing the button. Whoever fixed my vehicle that day must have installed the wrong turn signal back.
Yup. That's definitely the wrong stalk. The good news is, if you can source a correct one you can easily replace it yourself; it's a five minute job.
Or, if you know you won't ever need and use the lane assist system, you can deactivate it with ForScan and just pretend it was never there.

I know right? I figured it out really quick. Luckily it can be turned off easily on the Mustang. On my Mazda it's on by default every start up and the turn off is several menus deep in the infotainment system which is a pain to get to. I just go with it, I'm used to it vibrating when I have to shift over to avoid a cyclist, mailman, or garbage truck, etc...
That's because you don't have an European Mercedes. It's turned on by default and of course to disable it you have to dig through menus because there is no physical button for it... much like the Stop and Start crap but for that at least for that there is a button.
In the MB extremely picky implementation of the system it also actuates the brakes on the opposite side if it detects that you are leaning right and crossing the line marking for putting a little bit of distance from you and the big incoming truck.
The end result is the car sweeping on the other side of the road, just where the big truck is coming from.

That and the stop and start are the two exact reasons that detracts much of the pleasure of driving my other car. I have to find a way to un-code them from the software, or disable by default.

On newer models you also get the "speed limit assist" that vibrates, dings, or lifts your accelerator if it detects you are not doing the speed limit that nobody follow.
Nobody of you want to come and live in the land of the free (the "EU")?

Well it's her primary car. We find that all if the nannies work pretty well most of the time.

But yeah, maybe next time I'll look for Driver Attention and disable it.

While many understandably don't want the option, especially activated, you in some way paid for this supposedly awesome feature. When you sell the car, it can be leverage for a better selling price (than if it was inoperational).

My thought is to have the service department put it back like it was at their expense, and disable/enable it if and/or when you want, and of course enable it when selling the vehicle.

Or....he can take it back to the damn dealership and have them put the correct part on, like they should have in the first place.

I rarely use mine but find it good late at night if I'm feeling a little dozy.

Yeah, but sadly it's too late for that. It happened two years ago.
I wouldn't have any inhibitions about that, and if they got stupid, I'd leave them the wrong lever with ribbon around in a frame there.

That's not about living in the EU, thats about making a bad dicissions when buying a car... 😘

I only use it on the highway if sleepy...so not very much. I don't have as much trust in it compared to other cars.

This sentiment is what is wrong with "drivers". If you're noticing you're sleepy, STOP RIGHT DAMN NOW. Your skills are already significantly impacted. Take a nap. Or hire a hooker to drive the rest of the way.

Is what it is man. I don't drive as much as I used to and have had some close calls in my younger days; but sometimes you cant just stop. This system is only meant to assist not to save your ass. But I think there are worse things automated on the roads today with self-driving systems...
