I have never got 429 miles showing on display to empty (full tank) on stock/pump tune. WTF. 330 max....

E85 shows 280 something. Lol.
I have the 2018 6 speed PP, other "mods" are in sig (nothing fancy). I don't drive like I'm in the Daytona 500 but I don't drive like a grand maw. The car sees 7k more than once every tank.

This is just an aircraft mechanics opinion with 32 years of fixing jets, I will not being changing the oil based on what the cars says the oil life is, every 5k miles, simple easy number to go to by.

I changed the oil in my 2019 at 1,392 kms (865 miles) and plan to change it roughly every 10,000 kms (about 6200 miles) hereafter. Oil changes are cheap and easy to do, so why not.

check and add oil every 1k or so. I change it around 20% on the oil life meter which is about 4k miles for me. I keep the level good by adding some through the interval though.

theres your problem, once a tank? should be like 10 times a day lol. I think mine reads like 190 to E when full on e85. average MPG 11.4. I drive almost entirely for fun though.

In my defense I did say more than once a tank, hell I saw 7k six or seven times today alone with 4 people in the car. That tank averaged a little over 27 MPG's (300+ miles today and close to 400 on the tank). I'm also on 93, there isn't any E85 around where I live unless you want to get it in a can and pay $6 a gallon.

I've had two service departments tell me not to change it until 5,000 miles.

Also, although I've always done my own maintenance in the past, I'll let them handle it.

If something happens, it's on them to warranty it, and they will have documented proof that the oil has been changed.

Had mine changed at 6 months which turned out to be near 3,000 miles. Second oil change was six months later at around 6,200 miles.

I plan to stay on schedule with every six months unless the ECU tells me the oil life is at 20% in which case I'll do it then. The last oil change i checked and I was still above 40% but two hundred dollars a year in maintenance isn't a problem at this point.

I never got over 15 on the stock tune on 93 with 0 passengers so I cant really relate. This includes 2 other coyote cars, 2011 f150 and 2011 GT. Best I ever got was like 17 on my 1999 maxima back in like 2003-2008. My 2003 GT also got 15 or so at best 2008-2012, then the 2011 GT from 2012-2015 was 15 mpg on 93, 2011 F150 2015-2017 at 14-15 mpg on 93, then I had a 09 CTS-V that got 9.5 mpg on e60 from 2017-2018, now I get 11.5 on e85 .. :)

Changing it too soon? Costs you more, does nothing to engine.
Changing it too late? Saves you money on the oil, arguably costs you more in the long run because it will affect wear surfaces if it gets too dirty or too thin (The VI's wear out/burn off)

I say change it now. Then, if you want to be super geeky, change it after putting 5,000 miles on the new oil and send a sample to blackstone labs. Then, change it at 7,500 miles this time, and send to blackstone. Use the delta's and TBN to determine either how far you want to push it out, or what the sweet spot is. Remember that oil degrades gradually, so there is no set in stone "if x < y, then it's bad".

Also, seasonal driving will affect it greatly. If you do more idling in winter, especially with a DI car, you will dilute the oil more, and, unless you drive it long enough to fully warm up, the ph will go down because of the inherent condensation from lower temperatures. If you get lots of dust/pollen in the spring or summer, than some of it is going to make it past the oil filter into the oil. Also, you will probably drive it harder in the summer since road conditions will be better.

I think that is why there is no perfect answer. I used to use 1000 miles for every quart in the sump, or 6 months of use, but with 8 quarts in my '15 or 10 quarts in the 18+, I feel like I would probably change at 5k intervals just to make it easy to remember.

The first oil change is a bit more critical. I changed mine at 2200. I cut my oil filter open and there was some tiny metal bits within the filter- nothing serious. First time i've done that - it was kinda cool. I could also see very fine powder-like metal shavings in the oil that was coming out of the filter (only visible with a really bright light)- also nothing serious, but i was glad to clean it up with new oil and a filter after the first couple 1000. Kinda wish I did it a little sooner once I saw all this- but I'm sure I'm just over zealous on this first change.

Just make sure when you do have a dealership do the oil change that they put the right amount. After the paperwork was drawn up, I asked the service mgr to add that my car takes 10 quarts and they didn't.

The mechanic only put in 8 quarts.

Went back after 34 miles and had them drain the oil onto a large magnet, grabbed a sample for testing and took home the filter which I will cut open.

When they did the second oil change, they were only up to the bottom of the bottom hole in the dipstick. I added until I was at midline since I read 10 quarts was about that.
