Hi guys,

What is the deal w bubbling door sills on these s550s? My 2021 stang Gt only has 5000 miles on it, and I've already had 2 bubbling illuminated door sills go bad. (Driver side and now passenger side) Anyone else have this issue? I brought car back to dealer for oil change and showed them this issue, if course they are gonna replace under warranty, but wtf already 2x.. no bueno!!

Thanks Anthony

That sucks man. Are there any photos, what do they look like?
I gotta take some pics tomorrow and post as opposed to the generic pic I posted. Just wanted to make sure everyone knew what I was talking about.
The door sill material bubbles, it is not flat as it should be. It looks like air is under MUSTANG wording. If that part wasnt warrantied it wouldve been 200 bucks. This is non sense already, 2 sills since April 2021.. ?!?!?!?!

That’s ridiculous!! Definitely a quality control issue
Big time, I had a 2016 fusion w illuminated door sill, had car for 5 years, never had 1 issue. This mustang, had since March2021 and 2 diff side door sill issues. Ridiculous

Is water getting under the sill plate?

Not that I know of.. plus, shouldnt they be built to withstand the elements?
Thanks, Anthony
Can you upload a picture, please? Curious.

Sure, car is at dealer though. When I get it back. Just picture the door sill being wavy and not flat.. that's what it looks like.

If this crap keeps happening, I will just get regular non illuminated door sills and call it a day. Because this is lame. I have better things to do to bring car back and forth to dealer and waste time and play games.

It's odd that the door sills would be warping. Yes they should withstand all elements 24/7/365.

Have they checked for an electrical short or excessive heat transfer through rockers coming off of the exhaust?

I've never heard of the lighted door sills warping so badly until your posts about it.

Defective 1x, sure maybe a manufacturing problem with the infused plastics - but defective 2x, at different intervals on same car and on opposite side? Definitely odd.

Passenger side for me, less than 10k miles on the car when I noticed it. Ford replaced under warranty. Now 19k miles haven't had any more problems. Doubt its excessive heat, drove in 100 degree temps on last road trip. Don't drive the car in the winter and it's kept in the garage. think it's just a manufacturing issue, dealer seemed well aware of the problem.
