Gen 1 and 2 tracked just fine on 8 qts. The only diffrence between them and the gen 3 is 2 more qts. Hell you might even get more HP with only 8 qts in the 10 qt pan due to less windage.

They draw oil off the bottom not the top.

Make sure you check it in their parking lot from now on, saves time as it WILL happen again.

What???
As long as the pick up is covered in oil it doesn't care if there are 8 qts above it or 2.

If the rules forbid a dry sump you make a 10 qt pan and run 8 qts.

I'd make the dealer top it off and try to get a free oil change for the F up. But don't lose any sleep. No damage done.

The Gen 3 oil pan (which is different) is designed to have 10 quarts though. This means things like windage, baffling, and sump pickup depth are all designed around the expectation of 10 quarts being there. Sure, for normal driving it will be fine as I said, but if you're doing high performance driving, or high G's, you may run into problems. Especially since there's a pressure solenoid that controls oil flow back into the pan at high load. I certainly wouldn't risk it just because "gen 1 and 2 are fine with 8".

No, the bottom of the pan is the same. The chambers keep oil in the pickup area.

you mean the bypass valve?

There are 2 reasons for the 10 qt pan.
1) Oil change intervals
2) Cooling on track

I just got my first oil change and they charged $200 for full synthetic  I only did it because I was using the points from buying the car. Used them all with one oil change.

They used this filter PPG2500 AP* PP Oil filter instead of AA5Z*6714*B filter ASY
That's right motorcrraft filter.ig it were me id avoid dealership buy 2 quarts of correct oil and put it in
It's just not worth hassle
Next time you bring it in,bring receipt for only 8 qts,and ask for credit
Get yourself a funnel to pour oil in to make it easier

thats actually a fair price. you guys take 10 quarts right? thats 10 bucks a quart, 70 bucks, 10 bucks for a filter, 50 bucks for time/service fee.

my dealership when I first got car, told me 60 bucks for semi synthetic standard change, and I asked about full synthetic. they went and said "150"

keep in mind im an ecoboost, and I only need 6 quarts. RIP OFF. after that I did my own oil changes w the good good stuff
