The Wildtrak goes in for its new engine later this week, I wanted it clean before its goes in.

This is Can Coat EVO topped with KCx S0.02...............

IMG-9065.jpg

I have to say, this is the longest living LSP I have applied to this car, any wax or sealant would have lasted 3 to 4 months or so before failing. For the little effort needed to apply it, Can Coat EVO is very impressive.

Onto another little tidbit I learnt about over the last week. Trying so many different products from so many different brands, you start to notice a pattern after a while. Of course, I knew many brands are quietly connected and share product formula's, the real question is who is in bed with who. This is why I don't like to say "this is the absolute best product there is" because, chances are, that product is also sold by another company.

B&B Blending in the USA are connected with several brands, some are known, and some are very well-kept secrets. For example, B&B are responsible for Adam's Polishes, but are also connected with several other brands, the latest for me to find out about is Ethos and Phoenix EOD. I mentioned this last week with Ethos Foam Party, but this is hardly surprising when you look at the bottle designs, sprayer designs and basic product offerings.

I have also found another two products based on B&B Slipstream. So the same basic formula provides a product sold as Adam's Slick & Slide, Xtreme Solutions Topper, Obsessed Garage Drying Aid and...............Ethos Pro Shine and Phoenix EOD Titan. I haven't used Titan or Topper as these are not readily available in Australia, however despite a shared formula, there are some subtle differences.

For Titan, I'm told that there are some variations to the formula that make it unique to Phoenix EOD, what they are is not known to me.

For Adam's Slick & Slide, the scent is what grabs you first, a fruity "tropical" mashup that to me is extremely pleasant. It applies and wipes so easily. The yellow colouring will stain the bottle, so keep that in mind if you are using a nice spray bottle.

The same bottle staining is apparent with Ethos Pro Shine, the strong purple colouring is probably a touch overdone. Again, the fruity scent is strong, although different to Slick & Slide. Again, a product that wipes and spreads easily with minimal wiping to achieve a streak free finish. I do feel like Pro Shine and Slick & Slide have a stickier feel to them, something I put down to the colouring and scents.

IMG-9069.jpg

And then the most different of all of these, Obsessed Garage Drying Aid. Devoid of a scent and colouring, this stuff doesn't quite have the same lubricated feel, but then it requires even less working to achieve a nice finish. The lack of colouring won't stain your nice bottles either.

Which you choose comes down to price and preference to scents, I don't think you would be unimpressed with any of them. All can be used as standalone protection, as a drying aid (despite what Adam's say), can be used on glass/paint/rubber/plastic, and can be teamed with existing waxes, sealants and ceramic coatings.

Based on colour alone I have been suspicious of these 2.
You wouldn't be too far off with that, apparently Gyeon and Carpro products are made in the same factory. You will notice the scent profiles are very similar too.

Actually, I just looked up the SDS for Gyeon Quick Detailer. I have previously discovered that Carpro ECH20 has carnauba wax in the formulation.............................and so does Gyeon Quick Detailer.

@DFB5.0 have you ever tried something like Can Coat on lower door trims and speaker grilles ie the bits that always seem to get scuffed? Scuffing in that area is a pet peeve but it's almost inevitable and quite hard to remove. AFAIK Porsche is the only manufacturer that currently puts super low pile carpet there.

I know coating won't stop scratches but I've always wondered if it would minimise scuffing. I've always said that if someone developed a coating or film that could simply be wiped off they'd do quite well from it.

Cheers

I don't see why Gyeon Trim could not be used on those hard plastics.

I've seen Gtechniq EXO V4 being used to help disguise damage to lower door plastics ect, but not as an abrasion preventative.

Unexpected day off. I managed to fit in a wash of the Ranger amongst running all over town and and a couple of hours of work first thing.

I'm using ECH20 more and more recently, today as a drying aid, to wipe down the tray and the door jambs. It smells nice, is ultra slick and highly lubricious. Not to mention adjustable to suit your preferences.

And another Amazon delivery today....................oooo this rabbit hole is getting deeper and deeper.

The only thing I'm struggling with is organising all this neatly. My ideal solution is, of course, ruined by excessive shipping costs. I think it would end up being cheaper to just move to the USA. :giggle:

Come on, we would love to have you :) LOL. And I do love ECH20 as well. I mix a splash of Reload in mine to make some homeade Elixir. Works fantastic.

When I worked for Aamco all of my sockets that were used daily were mounted on the metal rails which were screwed to a nice oak slab. Very handy and easy to put away.
