Yep, all my opinions, but I haven’t owned both. Just looking for something more than vague innuendo to support how much better it is and find a bit more truth in the static. Zitro has tracked both cars, so he can speak specifically about how they’re different. And he basically said above that his assessment is the difference is worth about $20k.

My local dealer just got an R and I have a good relationship with them. Even if I score a great deal with them there’s still a big gap. In my household $20k is a big deal so I am forced to make informed decisions. This forum is a great source of information.

But you’re right, this thread is not about this topic and I should have PM’d Zitro. However, I know I’m not the only one who would like to hear HOW the R is so much better so I asked. Flame on.:threadjacked:
I think the OP topic was a little difficult to begin with, so might as well talk about something.

Well my apologies - it seemed like a rehash of the "the R isn't any different except tires" argument; especially due to the fact that you've driven both, seemed to have a strong opinion based on that experience and stretched the price a bit. I think the actual MSRP difference in price between an optioned GT350 and an optioned GT350R is about $8500. Many claims of MSRP deals on Rs out there - but I've seen $5k at best, so call it $13,500 difference. Aside from any other argument about what equipment comes with the R - if you buy a set of Forgelines and tires for your non-R, you're going to spend what - $6-$7000? Even if you sell your OEM non-R wheels, that still puts you about $8k more for an R in the end. I guess if you think the only difference is the wheels and you're happy with a quality set of forged ones vs the carbon fiber, you can claim you just saved $8k.
