Hi everyone,

Like the title asks: What is the safest way to get my car on 4 jackstands?

I have the Steeda low-profile jacking rails.

Do I get one side on stands, then the other, or is it safer to do front first, then rear?

I want / need to get it up fairly high (at least 20") on 6 ton stands to change the exhaust - my next "father/son project".

Thanks in advance!

(pic is from jacking rail install day)

I've done it both ways and both seemed to work just fine. Due to space restraints I did end up doing it in 2 stages when I went side to side to get it higher off the ground. Lifted one side and got stand under it and then other side up to desired height and then back to the first side to level it off. If this was an unsafe way of doing it, I never felt the sketchy bug and it all worked out just fine.

Also, that's a great looking garage!!

Thanks! Love my garage but despise the mess (salt and sand) from winter roads.
A pic of when it was a virgin lol.

I actually used ramps. It's a bit involved, but it gets the car up with a good safety factor.

1. Roll the rear up onto the ramps (cheap Rhino's) and lock/chock everything.

2. Use the jacking rails and lift blocks to get the front in the air.

3. Lower front wheels/jack points onto stand of choice. In my case I used my homemade wheel blocks.

4. Repeat for the rear.

This way the ramps are always under the car, and you have two jacks under it at once.
I was contemplating the idea of wheel blocks. They look extremely safe!
Thank you for the great idea!

I over built them by a bit. I could probably use them to jack my garage up
Overbuilt...pfffft. My work bench is also the house's shelter in place. It will survive me house and the neighbors falling onto in no problem I'm sure.

Nice NewAge garage cabinets. I have exactly the same, but in gray. And yes, they're made in Canada :).

Good Eye!
The company that did my floor, slat wall, etc wanted $10K for their cabinets. Um, no thanks.
Got the Newage online, on sale, for $2100 CDN. Great cabinets!

$3200 CDN...thats like $2500 USD
I think it's a great idea...just have to sell the Mrs. on it. I am doing an oil change for her this weekend...so maybe I can complain about crawling around on the floor, sore back, "gettin' older" etc lol play on her heart strings lol
Don't forget the concrete upgrades you may need.
