What have people paid in the last week, discount plus zero?

I worked 2 potential deals with Koons on PP1 cars, they were ok but not the best. Comparatively they were about $500 off (when accounting for different packages/options) and nothing close to $7k off. I’ve got traffic to show it.
The Koons Ford Dealerships, especially Koons Sterling Ford location, usually makes some of the best/most competitive deals on mustangs on the East Coast. Buyers must, however, be wary of the way the Koons dealerships calculate and advertise their WOW! Prices. The WOW! price doesn't include Ford's $1095 Destination and Delivery Charge and is calculated with ALL available rebate money, which not every buyer will qualify for. In my purchase negotiations with Koons Sterling Ford, I focused on a final price, rather than their WOW! price.

I took 13% off the vehicle I wanted, calculated the tax, title/tag and documentation fee (an utterly ridiculous $799.00...this should be against the law) and made my offer. Their last final "Rock Bottom" offer was a 7.8% discount from the MSRP of the car. The MSRP of the 2019 Mustang GT Premium PP was a little of 50K and the offered out the door price was $46,600. Stymee is correct: it is really, really difficult to get 10% off MSRP for a final purchase price; these claims of 7K-8K off the MSRP as a final "Out-The-Door" and "On-The-Road" price are truly hard to believe.

Well on Saturday I bought a 2019 GT Premium, 401A, 10Speed, PP, Magnaride, and Safe/Smart sticker 50935. I got it for 44261 BEFORE the 2500 rebate. They also gave me 27K trade in on my 2015 GT Premium (just auto and premium interior). after all tax, title, fees, reg I paid 17K and gave them my 15. I think I got a good deal.

Great deal, over 12% off

However if u take your 17 you paid off and the 27000 they gave u, in reality u paid 44k for the car not 42k

I could’ve done the extra 2500 and paid the car off but I took the zero.

Didn’t wanna give them my coin, traded my Crosstrek in, got good money for it and financed the difference.

You did real really good
Excellent deal bro

Great deal!!

——

Wow - so in FL, the “New Tire Fee” (tax) for (4) new tires @ $1.00 per tire cost you $5.00? :giggle:

——
Wait... so what’s going on with the multiple filing fees on that invoice??

That Dealer charges $149.00 for “Electronic Registration Filing Fee” when right above that field, the notation for the $799.00 says that fee is also for “preparing docs”.

Then further below they’re charging another $141.35 for transfer of “Registration and License Fees”.

Sounds to me like they are scamming customers by charging 3x for essentially “doc fees”.

799 was the 'dealer fee" while I dont agree with them the deal made me happy so I didnt quibble. The 141 is the title and registration fees and license plate renewal to the state.

Thanks, hope you get it

Stymee,

Your advice of, "Sit tight u have a bit more time" was spot on. I offered $40K on Tuesday and the sales manager said "No." I called again today (as the car has yet to sell and tomorrow is the last sales day of the month) and offered 40K for a second time; again the sales manager said "No." The sales manager said $41K..."Out-The-Door" and "On-The-Road"...all taxes, title, and fees included, was his best price.

I think 41K is a "Good Deal"but, not a"Great Deal." The car's MSRP is: $42,825. $41K is 4.26% (or "thereabouts") off the MSRP as a final price. If I had more time to haggle and/or look at other dealerships, I could probably find a similar car to purchase for a final price of 40K; but, Ford's 0% APR for 72 month finance offer ends soon and to be very honest, I am tired of looking and haggling LOL.

The car is, in my opinion, nicely equipped for a base: 10 speed automatic, 301A Package, enhanced security package, navigation, spoiler delete, 3.55 gears and active valve performance exhaust. So folks...how well (or poorly) did I do negotiating a final price?

They like to claim so but it's not remotely the truth. Lindsay Ford in Wheaton is far more consumer friendly. Plus MD legally caps the dealer fee to $300 whereas VA has no limit and $700-900 is common.

If you want a decent price in NoVA Sheehy Ford Springfield is a decent enough place to ink a deal. PM me for the name of the sales lady you should talk to.

If you're paying more than 90% of MSRP out the door, you're badly overpaying. 85% is well within reach. And with the model year coming to an end 76% of MSRP out the door is not unheard of. eg. https://www.lindsayford.com/new-Wheaton-2019-Ford-Mustang-EcoBoost-1FA6P8TH5K5180738

The key is go in with a 'out the door' ceiling firmly established and refuse to buy until they hit it. Here are 2 of my recent transactions.

Jan '19 Mustang GT base PP1 40.3 MSRP for 34.5 OTD from Sheehy springfield. Similar to this deal.

Jul '19 Camaro SS+1LE 45 MSRP for 37.5 OTD from Koons Tysons Chevolet. Similar to this

Shogun32,

Those are impressive purchase deals...congratulations to you and your keen negotiating skills. According to your stated buying strategy, I did "overpay": the car's MSRP was $42,625 and I paid a final "Out-The-Door" and "On-The-Road" price of $40K. That is 93.842% of the car's MSRP price of $42,625. Thus, on the low end of your stated buying strategy, I paid 3.842% ($1637.65) too much and on the high end (85%), I paid 8.842% ($3768.90) too much.

I purchased my car from a small-to-medium sized dealership; I prefer to purchase cars from large high volume dealerships, due to their desire to sell as many cars as possible and their willingness to (more often than not) negotiate the best deals as a result of their sheer sales volume. Given the circumstances, I negotiated the price down to the point (over a two week period) in which the General Sales Manager of the dealership said here is out best deal....Take it or Leave it. I thought 38,500 (which is 9.68% off of the car's MSRP) was an appropriate "Fair Market" price...but, the dealership's General Sales Manager did not. And 72K worth of new car's in a year...you must be "Raking In The Dinero" my friend!
