Lot's of hype around this GT500.

My Z06 weighs approx 3,600 lbs with 650HP/650TQ.

GM claims 0-60: 2.95 Seconds, Quarter mile: 10.95 Seconds @127 MPH with Automatic.

I've got a manual but have never gone faster than 3.6, never took it to the track. But the top 10 on CF have averaged 10.7 in the quarter @130MPH, with the best at 10.413

This GT500 if we believe these "leaked" stats weighs 4,225lbs (a beast).

That's 600lbs+ more or 60HP (10HP for every 100lbs).

If the Z06 has 650HP and the GT500 720HP then these cars are almost equal in Weight to Power (710HP vs 720HP)

I think Ford is going to be embarrassed if they can't beat a Z06 or a Hellcat.

I'm getting a 2019 GT350 unless the GT500 has a NA engine with 700HP and a Manual tranny.

No supercharger for me.

This will be interesting to say the least.

So, why no supercharger on a ford, but its ok on your vette?
Why would ford be sad if the GT500 doesn't beat a vette? They aren't even in the same class of car

Because I want a NA track car and I really like the looks of the Shelby. :inlove:

All the hype has said the GT500 will kill just about anything on the street.

But I'm not buying it.

Mustangs need to compete with Camaros. Is it disappointing if ZL1 doesnt keep up with a Z06?

Exactly. If it's a disappointment for the gt500, it is for the zl1 as well, since they are the same class of car. Personally i believe it will beat a zl1 around a track, which is going to be the top direct competitor.

The Z06 will be faster than the GT500 and the GT500 won’t beat the ZL1 1LE around a road course.

If you got the coin to swing it a twin turbo GT350 is route to go. Itll stomp a Z06 and the 2097 GT500 LOL!

Screw OEM. Fords already at least 2 model years late. At the very best the GT500 should have came with the 2018 mid cycle refresh.

Buy a GT350 and throw some boost at it

That's not the point of my reply of the OP. Also, we will see about the road course and the ZL1 1LE. I bet the R/KR/whatever version will be a handful for it.

Then I guess you are not getting a GT500.

You have some off the wall posts lately. Kinda reminds me of MCars Fan a while ago.

Have fun with (your not purchased yet) GT350.

So why are people getting excited?
Because its the new halo mustang?
Because people want a fast mustang?
Because some people(read most) don't give a shit about being fastest around some track?

That is something my 25 year old son says.

Then why not Mod any car? Maybe I'm a purist but I don't believe in modifying a Shelby.

I may do some mild suspension mods, and a few bolt-ons but I'm not going to radically alter the engine.

More HP don't mean chit if you can't get traction. My Z06 has too much HP for its chasis already. In fact, many say the Grand Sport with 460HP is a more fun car to drive.

My Z06 is NOT an easy car to drive fast, especially on a road course. Back-end likes to kick out. Unlike my brothers Porsche which can whip around corners with ease, much more planted.
