I recall several months back the rumor that Ford was going to issue a special Key FOB for our GT350s that would unlock more performance from the Engine ? I guess perhaps it was just that a rumor vs. something in reality. Just curious if anyone heard anything more on this.

Yep - same thing that happens to most rumors.

It was not a rumor, it was fact. It appeared in the Ford Performance Catalog with a "coming soon" notation. It never materialized.

That wasn't anything recent, that was back in '16 I believe.

I always thought that the Boss 302 track key was an awesome idea and I was really sad when Ford didn't follow through with doing something similar for the GT350.

In all seriousness, what could they have squeezed out of it??? Has anyone bothered with a good 93 tune on a bone stock car? My imagination says that’s all it would have been, and what would that have netted?

Take one fob apart, Get some sem plastic/vinyl dye and take fob apart, clean case really good, like in dish washer good, then spray sem red dye/paint on the fob case, 4 coats, let dry for a week, put fob back together, and you can now tell your buddies you have the track key.. lol.

I'm fine without it. It would add something that was not really needed, this car is mostly not about the novelties (says the guy who likes the snake puddle lamps).

Track key on my 12 Boss was legit. Very noticeable improved throttle response with re-mapped parameters.

Yeah, it's an amazing car without it. Even something non-functional like a ghost cam lumpy idle would have been cool IMO.

But if they could have added better throttle response and allowed the gas pedal to close the throttle more completely to provide a little more engine braking - both those would have been welcome.

How about a track key that enables auto rev match? :)

I talked with ford software engineers about back In 2017 about the track key. They tuned it all in there in the modes instead.

Almost six years ago now I found out through FORScan that GT350 engineers had code within the PCM to allow a Ford Racing Trackey calibration.

At that time it looked like Ford Performance was going to offer a Trackey calibration on their end as well. From the FRPP catalog at that time...

For whatever reason, Ford Performance never delivered. Hopefully we find out the reason some day as to why.

I remember this - 2016 FRPP catalog had a write up about it…was supposed to be offered for the GT as well….I work at a dealership who was at that time a large FRPP vendor….I reached out to Ford Performance, I was told that some how the track key fob and regular key fob conflicted with one another if they were both in the car at the same time.

Honestly, the 2018+ improvements are pretty much on par with what we all “missed out on” in that red track fob.
