I'm late to to the party, yeah, but I never get an answer why people can't poke fun at some builds? I think a little bit of making fun of people builds character.

Only on social media. Facebook, Instagram, whatever. "It's not your car," or "It makes them happy." So what? Yeah, more camber than drifters are stupid but those Japanese cartoon porn wraps are just repulsive.

Yeah I get made fun of for selling the Niche wheels that came on my used GT and switched to stock. But I'm not gonna cry about it. Not sure if I'm an unnecessary hardass though after doing 4 years of Army active duty so maybe I'm built different.

If you're curious: My Niche wheels were 20 inch 255x305. Absolutely stupid for the track which I do go to.

Here's how I look at it, nothing wrong about laughing / cracking jokes with your buddies about someone's build, but doing it to that car owner whether in person or on forums is not nice and not something I do.

Online or in person, I still treat people the way I want to be treated and I'm a respectful person. Unfortunately, that seems to be a dying perspective.

Plus I remember my mom telling me when I was young, if everyone was the same, this would be a pretty boring world to live in.

She also told me that you can't control what people say or do, but you can control how you react to it. So feel free to make fun of me all you want if it will make you laugh. It won't bother me and I might even laugh along with you.

I remember my parents teaching me “if you can’t find something nice to say to best not to say anything”. They also taught me “it’s not what you say but how you say it”. That’s advice a few people on here should take heed of. There’s nothing wrong with voicing an opinion but a least try and do it respectfully.

MEH. just because the TYPE of build isn't what I would build, Doesn't take away from the fact the person is putting time, money and care into what they "dig". I look at the fab work, the problem solving, and things my type of builds don't normally use, think of.
Sure that 1952 nose on a 1999 blazer isn't my thing, but the work and skill to work the sheets of metal.
I can't goof, on a persons build because it might not be perfect. we all didn't start with all the skills and Attention to details when we started off.
I guess some need to tool on others to feel good about themselves. They tend to also talk about you when you are out of ear shot also. I steer clear of such folks.

I agree. BUT, that has nothing to do with Japanese cartoon porn on cars...

It is ART to some. No different than the murals on vehicles in the 70-80's with women's parts falling out of what little they had on in those paintings. The more things change the more they stay the same. other than the same person that would walk by a van, race, show car with a mural going cool, turning their nose up at a different type of mural that is basicly the same darn thing.

I think that's dumb too. I just especially hate it now because it's Japanese cartoons. Like I am so sick of Japanese cartoons dude. It's everyone's art style in the U.S and it's bland.

I started reading comics from the U.S. newspaper three months ago like I did when I was a kid. It was so alien to me. My childhood didn't feel right.

It's not my thing either, but it is what kids today are into.
I look at the talent/skill it took to draw or design it on a computer ,even IF it isn't my thing.

Yikes...hate is a strong word for something that you didn't pay for. Would it be better if they were American cartoons? What about the tattoos? There are far more of those in "plain sight", many of which would be considered to be very tasteful.

The only “builds” I’d make fun of (in my head, because that’s where those types of opinions belong) are the stance cars. I think its stupid to take a functional car and make it worse solely for attention (yet another reason I won’t say anything, they just want attention and I’m not gonna give it to them).

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It’s their time and money. Maybe I’ll appreciate it, maybe not. If not, I probably won’t say anything. If I do say something, it’ll probably be respectful.

That said, we all still have the right to our own opinions. And far too many people have become so thin-skinned they can’t hear any criticism or differing opinion without being offended.

Why should someone have to pay for something in order to critique it? I'm sure most of us don't have a Camaro and Challanger but we've probably test drove them, thus made us buy a Mustang. So the notion of "pay to critique" is just silly.

:) This is the first I see you use the word "critique". You began with poking fun and led up to hating. As you know you can poke fun at anything you feel the need to. Was your topic meant to get people to join you in poking fun? To answer your question; there is absolutely nothing wrong with "you" disliking builds. Your "Camaro and Challanger" example doesn't equate to disliking builds.

Again, you have your opinion and there is nothing wrong with that. :handshake:
