I know it’s probably a sin to de-chrome a Bullitt but their was something about it that I just didn’t like. Couldn’t put my finger on it.

Hi All
Just thought I’d send some photos of some small cosmetic changes to my Bullitt and see what you all think……

How does it look having the front and side spoiler extensions but the stock rear diffuser? Does it look like somethings missing in the back or does it all flow together?

I wanna do the side skirt extensions but I really don’t like any of the aftermarket rear diffuser extensions and I’m not sure how it will look with just the stock rear diffuser with all the other parts

It looks absolutely fine.
with the Bullitt we are limited on rear diffusers as many won’t fit.
I did have some winglets added to continue the lines of the side skirts but removed them because it did actually look better with nothing on the rear.

When you have time could you post some pics showing the whole car from the rear and sides so I can see how it looks? I’m sure it looks great. I would greatly appreciate it.

I agree I don’t like the look of the winglets either.

Yeh 100% agree.
So I’ve done some experimenting with my Bullitt and have come to the conclusion that the stock mid resonator has to stay on for the exhaust to sound good. Only an axle back would compliment the sound.

I tried an H-Pipe, X-pipe and the borla SwitchFire. Granted all sounded ok but nothing amazing. The sound was much less refined.

I’m back to stock now and I honestly think the stock Bullitt exhaust shouldn’t be changed.

Love the de-chromed look. Any pictures showing the whole car from farther away?

Also, are you considering painting the wheels all black?

Hi - A note from a Bullitt owner. I was 26 years old when the movie came out, but didn’t buy the Bullitt because of the movie. I thought the car was handsome and liked many things about it including the retro look which obviously included the chrome trim pieces. Painting the chrome takes away from the retro look, but I understand that younger folks may not be used to chrome. Back then the higher level models had more chrome which was considered more upscale. Personally I think your car looks great and was tastefully done. Whatever the owner likes should be paramount in modifying cars. So if you’re looking for confirmation of your changes, you have my vote. It’s hard to ruin a Bullitt unless you wrap it in a different color… Bruce

Each to his own fella.
It was something I was never 100% sure about but now it’s black it looks great. I used to love loads of chrome but I think they only look good on classic cars.
