I knew when I ordered my HPP I was going to remove the hood stripes. The dealer called me three times to ensure I wanted them removed prior to delivery. I don't like stripes, but that is just me.

I do think white Shelbys look good with Guardsman Blue Le Mans stripes, but that is the only stripes I like on a Mustang. But I don't have a Shelby.:wink:

Your car is gorgeous as is.
Just not a fan of stripes...maybe Shelby, old school Z or Chevelle SS.

My stripes have a carbon fiber weave print pattern which you only notice close up. I put them on myself in a day with the total of material from ebay at $63. Local guy wanted $450 to do it. Iā€™ll keep them on for a few years and decide if I want to redo them, change them or take them off.

I feel like it really depends on the color and the shape. For example, I don't know if I want stripes on a 2020 GT500 if its Shadow Black, but I may want if its Twister Orange. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

I appreciate the input from everyone here...The range of opinions are better-articulated shades of what I have thought about the topic on my own. In the end, I know it's my car but like a new style of a hat, a guy has to try it before they know if it really suits them.

So...maybe dropping $250 on vinyl for a full hood/roof/trunk kit and 4+ hours of labor getting them just right, isn't the best way to jump in while doubts linger. I suspect I will give this a try down the road but a smaller project feels right at the moment... So I decided to ease into this.

Bigworm offers what they call "Javelin stripes." Instantly, I recognized them as being similar the RTR package side stripes...there are some different shapes/thicknesses but primarily, there is a different placement of the rear haunch portion of the stripe...Bigworm's reccomended placement has both stripes on the side of the body, on the RTR cars, the rear stripe sits on top of the fender and is almost not visible when looking directly at the side of the car. It won't be identical of course but I believe that can placement be achieved with their kit...or I'm willing to give it a shot at least.

Real RTR:

As for color, the 2011 RTR cars in Kona Blue were available with a light blue stripe and IMO, it looked really interesting...so I'm going to try to emulate that color combo:

Obviously, I will provide updates as they become available.

Was on the fence about black side stripe on my GT/CS but itā€™s very subtle. Hardly notice itā€™s there. May have not wanted it if it was white.
Iā€™m liking it but was never a big fan of stripes unless on a Shelby.

My car is a base 2020 GT. I've done a ton of mods (by my standards) since buying it, nearly making it a PP2 minus the Magneride...visually, it's pretty tame with dark wheels and OEM only spoilers, etc.

So I really like the optional "racing stripes" and I have only ever seen ONE car in person with that option. The asymmetrical design really catches my eye...and the fact that they are a factory option makes them slightly less wild. I'm seriously thinking about buying a set and installing them myself...I just really enjoy looking at them.

I just don't quite have a sense for how the come off to outside observers...and I'm not going to lie and say that it's not a factor in my decision. :)

First, do stripes belong on a non-"special" Mustang? My dad has a Shelby GT500 and they absolutely belong on that car...but on a base GT? Seems like it might come off as trying too hard??

To this point, stripes or anything "flashy" has never been my style. I don't need to be noticed, I don't crave attention. I don't hate it, I just don't need it. This is one of those mods that makes a statement, I'm really not sure what that statement is to everyone else....so any input is appreciated in helping with this decision!

My GT is a convertible so that changes things a little, plus Iā€™m over 70 so thereā€™s that. But having said that, I like ā€˜em. My only suggestion is to try to mimic a factory stripe, maybe like a Shelby.

I have a PP2 in Kona blue that came factory with the black offset stripe you talked about. Most didn't even realize it had a stripe from afar so with that you'll keep a subdued look. I have since got the itch to change things up so I accented the stealth stripe with pinstriping tape. I was like you and worried it was too flashy but everyone I've talked to said they love it. I eventually embraced it and the good part is if I want to go back to being low-key I can easily take the pinstripe off.
