Strangers always give me a thumbs up and I have no clue how to respond lol. I gave a thumbs up back but that felt weird

When that ever happens I’ll usually stick my hand up in a Jeep wave kinda way or I’ll flash them. Um, using my head lights I mean. The ones on the car. :cwl:

I usually return the thumbs up and give a little neutral rev for emphasis. Have to say, this reminded me of the same question in a Tundra thread and one guy said, “Being somewhat socially awkward, I replied with a goofy smile and an accidental combination shaky love sign and thumbs up. Called it a day after that.”

After he posted a picture of his hand gesture, this reply showed up:

Hasn't happened, and I wouldn't do anything if it did?

I do the hand up wave often to other Mustang drivers. Thumbs up too is just another way of expressing the shared passion for our favorite car. No different than Harley riders, Corvette owners, Jeep etc.
I don't care if I get it back, but often I do. It's about YOUR enthusiasm, after all!

Two finger V peace sign, nice smile and a nod to acknowledge.

If it’s at a red light I throw in a verbal “thank you”, especially if it’s kids. I’d like to be a positive brand emissary. Lord knows they see enough Mustang redneck jerks at their high school.

Now if they have a nice ride too I’ll point at them and return the thumbs up. Always smile!

I get a lot of "nice car man" from people when I'm at a stoplight. The convertible top being down makes it more common. It's often paired with a thumbs up.

Most of the time I say something like "thanks man" back but occasionally I trigger my socially awkward mode and say something like "thanks for noticing - uh, right on man, nice face" or whatever.

But usually just a simple "thanks man" seems to do the trick.

I usually go "shaka" hand gesture, or return the thumbs up.

My eyes are on the road and the vehicles movements. I tend to miss any thumbs up or wave unless they are sticking hand out of the car.
People drive like they are in the Daytona 500 and have the same outcome daily 4 to 7 or more pile ups. I am to busy getting clear of the hornets nest to see when someone does it .
I haven't been to a cruise Night or cars and coffee yet this season or even a cruise to the local ice cream farm . :(
