got the 3yr service done, few months early but I want to drive it during the summer (lockdown permitting) not worry about getting it serviced / oil changed for a summer of thrashing.

Picked up my Steeda stuff from the powder coaters ‘mid process’ after the chemical strip so I could remove weld spatter, dress a few welds up and blunt all the edges :

Now I will return them so they can aqua blast and coat them (Red) :like:

I wouldn’t disagree, but you don’t have to look far to find stories and pictures of Steeda’s crap powder coating abilities and the corrosion that follows.

I made the decision to inspect the parts and make my choice on what I found before fitment, I don’t like doing stuff twice ... If it wasn’t as I liked, I would recoat and make the colour change (not sure why Steeda can’t pick a single colour and stick with it).

It’s not surprising Steeda’s coating has a bad rep, upon initial supply the telltale signs were there that no surface preparation was under the coating :

Confirmed after the chemical strip :

Zero surface prep, nothing for the coating to key onto. In general, it looks good, but once water can get under it it’s got no chance - and even on the brand new stuff there were plenty of areas to let water in.

Shame really, as the fabrication work is great :

Anyhow, not a job I wanted to do and not one I enjoyed, but it’s done now and I am sure the results will make me happy and be worth it in the long run :like:

I need to stop searching for car parts after having a few beers as it’s becoming dangerous !

Couple of minor mods done today, not to everyone’s taste I’m sure.

Where did you get the Roush badge from if you don’t mind me asking?

Swapped out my fuel pump for a DeatschWerks DW400, I now longer get that clunk from the pump priming on startup.

Words of advice:
Make sure you have less than 1/4 of a tank of fuel.
You can use a screwdriver and a hammer to remove the fuel tank retention clip but it seems harder to re-fit it that way, I ended up buying the £20 tool from Amazon.
Have towels at the ready, you have to tilt the basket to get it through the hole and it will hold fuel.
The replacement tubing and fuel sock are extremely tight to fit, so much so I thought they'd provided the wrong ones until I Googled it.

I am beginning to change my mind, I think I now agree with you ... :giggle: :cwl:

I didn't like the look of the holes / corner that would leave a corrosion point for the lining, so I brazed over them (the tubing has an endcap that pushes into it after coating) :

if you can braise/fill and clean like that you'd have been quicker/cheaper just making the entire items yourself
