oh :( that sounds like a bus! Hopefully it’s not something on top of the phaser.

On a side note, 13 months on, mine’s still not fixed, I’m at a complete loss as to what to do next, sometimes I feel like webuyanycar is my only option left!
yeah i even checked how much i'd get for mine, not a lot on a 17GT :( I'm hoping the entire timing kit refresh will remove that noise but the mechanic will have instructions to torch the car if it's something serious / expensive. It doesn't lack for top end er motion but that noise has me thnking mmm maybe baby it til the timing gear / VCT / phaser replacement is completed. Total princess this thing.

It is worth for you @MarkM to have you car taken to a distance specialist for diagnostics ? I dunno what your options and patience are like though

New front boots fitted, Michelin PS4 to match the rears. Front of car seems high but I've not measured it to compare. For another reason I'd measured height for clearance arches and front splitter so will check tomorrow.
Timing kit and seals arrived from the states. Damned quick. Now to arrange fitting.

Drove it. A couple of small trips after the new fronts fitted, new tyres suck for grip but the drumming from the front has gone from the old tyres so that's a good bonus. Need to drop the tyre pressures post fitting.

They will take a few hundred miles to scrub in.

I went for the Continental SC7 on my fronts a while ago and really pleased I did. My Michelins were horribly cupped and noisy, started at about 8k miles and by 18k miles was like a 50p piece. Now on just under 30k miles (so 12k on the Conti's) and they are still completely fine. You will need to swap the Michelins side to side every 3k miles or so I think if you want to avoid the same happening. And that requires :muscle::muscle: for the wheel nuts!

you aint joking about :muscle: had to buy a torque wrench when i got the car so i could tighten and check the wheel nuts. Of course, a 19" wheel and tyre are not light either ha. I was going to get the contis but with the michelin discount they were the same price and i like the PS4 so figure what the heck. Hopefully i wont get the cupping but yeah time will tell.

It's the size of the wheel nuts that means the torque has to be so high.

If the PS4S cupped on my can and your car, the new ones will too. You could get the toe out setting reduced to help reduce the risk but you risk losing steering turn in feeling

yep, wheel stud size and grade sets the spec, not the wheel makers like so many other discussions on here lol. The car had Kumhos fitted when i got it, i wore the rears out sooner than the fronts :cwl:

I'm going to add myself to the list of people having a less than fun time with ownership at the moment.

As previously mentioned, new engine last August when it let go on track.
Cats started going in Spring, so fixed in April (ended up with a full exhaust system as supercharged I didn't want to go with standard cats)
Clutch at the same time, as that was going when the new engine was dyno'd
Then sprung a fuel leak. Video attached. Good job it was a short journey (just to nursery drop off and back, otherwise the car would be gone)
Now I've had a rear noise which was apparently the thrust washer on the rear left
And an intermittent O2 sensor causing a CEL
And finally, a bad driveshaft/diff sound has started (or the same sound as before getting worse) on the rear left.

Not enjoying the car much at the moment. I just want a trouble free run with it.

Ugh, that's awful 😔, sorry. Summer is supposed to be the fun time with these cars

Deal done to get rid of it, bye Ford forever, I’d love to say it’s been a pleasure but equal measures of love and hate leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Baby Aston incoming fingers and toes crossed 😝

Sorry to hear you're leaving but under the circumstances it's not surprising.
We do expect pictures of the Aston when you get it

Thanks Donnie, wasn’t planned at all, it was just a fall in love moment that hopefully I won’t regret.

Thanks bud, As above, it wasn’t planned so the Mustang is fully modded, I’ll get to it this weekend and strip as much as possible, I’d love to find someone that could do me standard parts plus cash on the dry carbon dash but I don’t have a lot of time on that front!

I’ll make a list of bits I can remove :)
