We used a 5in holesaw to open it up a bit, then a small hacksaw and files to tidy the edges upđź‘Ť I've got an MP Concepts diffuser on the way to make it look more like factory fitment, but it isn't too bad for a hack job
nice job. I looked into the different diffuser route but gave up like most of the other ideas i have for the car.

Caught up with a friend, naturally we washed the cars and took photos

Too tight to buy that thin trunk liner from Ford so made my own from foam mats from Aldi. Time will tell whether it was time wasted! The irony is that the "carpet" in the boot is barely worth protecting!

i got the liner and yeah it's pretty thin, seems to have lasted well though so.. At least your mats will stop your shopping flying about the boot - i had to put down a mesh like protector on the boot liner to prevent me having to go fishing for the shopping when i got home. Big boot, not complaining but the hatch could be bigger to get in lol

so does anyone else have issues with their shopping flying around the (pretty decent sized let's be honest) boot or just me that goes shopping with the stang? After massively overthinking the solutions i resorted to a simple bungee cord that clips into the rear bar at the boot lid hinge. Simple, easily reversible, can take a whole weeks shopping if need be and now i don't have to climb into the boot to get the shopping when i get home.

Picture of the ends and/or wider shot? I can't figure out where you hooked the bungy.

Hopefully this is a bit clearer and also doesn't show the rubbish I buy to eat! You can see the bar across the back of the rear seats and there is a similar bar underneath the bootlid area. If you stick a mirror under there you'll see the box section under the rear window.

My Mustang tends to avoid supermarket car parks as much as possible. My boot tends to contain golf clubs and trolley 90% of the time. In fact I took them to the test drive because it was a prerequisite that they fit!

Good plan taking the clubs and trolley for testing, it's not the biggest opening into that space.
I park miles away from everyone else but aye every 1 in 5 trips I come back and some rocket has parked next to me with 6 or 7 free spaces either side of us. Damned magnets!
Thanks! Am definitely going to do this.
Dunno why I didn't think of it long before now ha. Hope it works out for you and anyone else with the similar shopping issues.

I’m sure I read about some OE VW bag hooks that can be retrofitted into that panel to semi support / restrain bags ?

I ALWAYS use a parking space with none on either side. And far enough from the door that only once in hundreds of trips was someone already parked there. Also, high ground so carts can't roll into it.

Pic from new before any mods:
