Did they say what model years are seeing early cat failures?
He didn't say. Also I'm under the impression he was making a blanket statement about Fords, not just Mustangs. I wasn't able to ask him much, I was curious if this problem was showing up on certain years like you asked, or if it was certain mileage, etc. I might be able to ask him when I go back next time.

I got the windows tinted yesterday (20 sides/back) and this morning I installed the new shift knob. It feels faster already.

:)

Today I did NOT get sideswiped by a Hyundai changing lanes into me without looking. Thank goodness for PP brakes.
in that vein, a Brittany Mustang Mach-E almost hit my Brittany Ecoboost 100 yards from my office.

Used this frosty day to update sync. It's kinda wild to me that the 300A cars still get regular updates, and they are actually improving the "mini" sync 3 to work better. Of course I got that damn bug again where it doesn't generate a log file. Using exFAT format for a fast USB drive makes it 100x faster though. Apparently you can just connect the car to wifi to do the same thing as uploading the log file.

After two years of HPDE events with the stock GT brakes, I finally upgraded to the Brembos. Next track day is Jan 28th at Eagles Canyon Raceway in Decatur, TX!

Bought the kit from LMR which included stock 15” rotors from Ford. Those will be used exclusively for the track paired with some track day pads, while the street gets a set of PowerStop Z26 drilled and slotted rotors.

I’ve already got the PP2 lower control arms with the air deflectors, next on the list is the PP belly pan with the air channels (will do that before the Texas summer!)

Can you tell any difference between the standard and Brembo brakes?

Are you aware if the rest of the braking system is exactly the same?

No difference for normal street driving. The stock GT 14" rotors and 4-piston calipers are really great and provide great braking for normal conditions.

Where they fall down is in a track condition where you are generating tons of heat. The 14" rotors have an inverted hat design (cooling comes from the outside) whereas the 15" rotors have a hat design where the cooling is on the inside of the rotor, which allows for channeling air from underneath the car and redirecting it to the inside of the rotor (see here for a much better explanation).

Other than the 15" rotors and 6-piston Brembo Calipers, I believe the rest of the GT brake system is the same.

Good way of describing it. I believe this is why the non PP cars have air channels in the bumper that dump air right into the front of the tire (whereas the PP cars have these blocked off, and air channels underneath instead). But this is woefully inadequate in a track setting.

Steeda IRS alignment kit arrived the other day. Just waiting for the subframe braces then will install both at the same time then get an alignment.

Have fun! Just remember the bolts won't go in if the subframe is out of alignment when you use kits like these, so if you keep having to fight or keep crossthreading, you may need to loosen all of the bolts and muscle it to where it needs to be.
