Not only did the Ford tech almost certainly not do that, but he probably Fāed up the alignment tooā¦ I brought my car in to have JUST the rear aligned and they threw the front out of perfect alignment. Thatās the only thing I canāt do in my garage (other than paint) and Iām sorry I had someone else touch my carā¦I have similar cramped quarters like yours. I had my alignment done by Ford service but I have a feeling the technician did not clock the bushings like I asked him to. I was thinking to make wheel cribs out of 2x4's, but your suggestion should work. Maybe measure the distance from the rim to the fender on the floor and then one in the air, jack the suspension to repeat that measurement and then remove the wheel?
At any rate, yes, measuring as you described will bring an extra level of certainty to the process. Iām not a professional racer, it isnāt that big of a difference in my life to stress about it to that level, especially because having the wheel (and maybe rotor and caliper) off makes it a million times easier.
