Picked up the cowl extension and installed the FP strut bar. Very pleased with the difference it made.

Rotors and pads all the way 'round.

And here's my suggestion to all who may consider doing this; if you have a 2 post lift where you can get the car up to eye-height, professional-style, go right ahead. It's pretty straight forward work.

If you do NOT have a 2-post lift; do not try this at home on jack stands or Quick Jacks . It will kill you. It's an awful job to do, as you're doing it by braille. Just terrible. Write the check and let the dealership do it.

And a huge shout out to Shogun who helped me get it all done at his facility, and endured my cursing through the whole thing. It was a very kind and generous gesture.

Anyways....despite all the pain, there is a tremendous amount of satisfaction to drive with new brakes that feel awesome, that you installed yourself.

Even if it damn near killed you.😂

so not me but related....
just found out that the guy who bought my 2015 GT totaled it last Wed in the rain.
dont think anything stupid but just unfortunate (he traded a 2009 GT for the 15).
he is familiar with mustangs so knew what potentially could happen....
he is devastated. kinda sad myself TBH....

To get room for a helmet without causing my chin to be pushed down onto my chest, I cut a spare pair of headrests to half original thickness, using a bread knife and some marker lines to guide me.
would it make sense to cut a V-channel?

took 6 hours in the increasingly intense sun. The curses rained down on Ford engineer's heads and their mothers was plentiful! Stuff that GM and VW have the common sense to do, Ford ignored and didn't bother. I thought the whole point of buying your competitors vehicles and taking them apart was to steal ideas. Apparently Ford engineers can't be bothered to do all significant but routine service on their own vehicles or they might start adopting GM ideas.

IMO the more I experience it, GM is an actual engineering company, Ford is an enthusiast company.

IIRC it was tricky enough marking and then cutting with the bread knife. You have to cut just enough to improve your situation, because too much and the styrofoam headrest might just pop through the channels with the posts. No bueno.

So, no, I would just plan on cutting the thickness in half with a straight cut. I think I made a post about this a few years back if you want to search for it under my handle.

Lol what? What about it is difficult? Not to throw shade, but I'm genuinely curious. Was all your stuff rusty or something? I've done disc, drum, everything under the sun sans some of the fancy 6+ piston exotic setups. Do you have the Bimbo brakes or something? Bimbos are pretty consistent across most vehicles with the pin and pad setup, but I haven't laid eyes on what Ford did there exactly.

I agree. Just gives me another option and cuts down on fingerprints or someone scratching it with their wedding ring as my wife did. Lol.

Bimbo brakes? Nothing was rusty.

It's not about the pin and pad set-up, or replacing pads, that's easy. Although after 37K miles my pins were carboned up heavily and didn't want to move.

It's replacing the rotors, which requires removing the calipers, front and rear. When you can't see any of the bolts involved.
