Spent way to much time installing longtubes. Wrapping them up in the morning.

The list o’ stuff from yesterday;

Changed my oil and went with Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5w30 and the FL500S filter. Originally I’d ordered pennzoil ultra platinum but one the jugs was damaged in shipping. So I audibled out of that and went Mobil 1. More on the oil in another post...

Changed the trans fluid to the BG Synchroshift II. Easy process. I got the kit from @Optimum Performance with the trans and diff fluid.

Changed the diff fluid to the BG 75-140

Swapped out the stock clutch line for the Steeda braided line. This plus the new fluid makes driving and shifting much smoother.

And finally got the Velgen VF5’s mounted! Wrapped in Nitto NT555 G2’s 275/35 and 305/35. They look awesome!

I took my first stab at cleaning the wheels, when I was shopping I knew these would be a PIA compared to the wheels on the black package and I was right. I washed it yesterday so grabbed a bottle of Simple Green and a tooth brush and hit the corner where the spokes meet the wheels. Rinsed and went to Meg's Hot Tire Wheel Cleaner followed by two coats of Meg's Ceramic Wax. This is the first time I have used the wheel cleaner and it seems to work well, I noticed a brown tint to the run-off. I tried the ceramic wax on the 2500HD but I didn't even get it covered with one bottle so I ditched the idea of using it on a vehicle. However, I had a brainstorm today, it might work fine on the wheels. Clean new wheels are shiny so time will tell if it's worth it.

Thank you sir!

As soon as I opened the boxes I knew I was going to love them. They’re the exact look I wanted!

Now onto finding a wing and grill delete that work with what I’m shooting for looks wise.

The good: actually got this last week, but didn't get a chance to post it until now. Saw this red stitched e-brake handle boot on ePay a month or so ago and finally pulled the trigger. My car came with the color matched stitching on the dash & console, but the e-brake was just plan black. This always seemed strange to me, so this looks like a great way to right the wrong. Not sure what it's going to take to install, but it shouldn't be too bad. This piece looks great, and the grain of the leather actually matches the grain on the console better than stock.

The bad: I scratched a chunk of paint off my front bumper cover.
The ugly: I nearly ruined a new wheel that I bought as a spare, too.

Long day on the road and got home late. I pulled the car back out of the garage to unload it and put the new wheel box in the empty garage bay. After I was done putting everything that was in the car away, I hopped back in and pulled her back in the garage. I remembered the box sitting in front of the car right about the time I heard the crunch...

Pulled her back far enough to unstick the box that was wedged between the splitter on the Mustang and the door of my old Plymouth that I have on skates off to the side. Decided to go to bed and check for damage in the morning - no point getting pissed off before going to sleep.

It's worth noting that this particular wheel had lived an adventurous life before I picked it up @ LMR on Friday - I suspect this may have been one that UPS lost on the way to another forum member, but LMR packs the hell out of these things and it was perfect inside the damaged box:

The box was substantially more damaged after my little brain fart:

It looks like both an old iron intake manifold and one of the car skates pushed through the box. Dammit.

I hope i didn't damage the new wheel that managed to survive who knows what until it got to me. Crap... not looking good...

Whew... perfect. Thankfully didn't damage my primary wheels either. That was my nightmare situation, that both the spare and a mounted wheel would be damaged, but it looks like I got lucky.

The little black spot is the place where the paint got rubbed off the bumper - about 1/4" across, so a pretty good chunk. That will fix with some touch-up paint and some buffing. A push-in fastener from the inner wheelwell also popped out, but it went right back in. All in all, penalty I'm willing to accept for being a numbskull and not paying attention.

Oh, and for what it's worth, you CAN fit 4 19x11 wheels in boxes in your S550, plus a 19x10 in a banged-up box, PLUS a carry-on sized suitcase PLUS a backpack. It's tight, but it works. 3 wheels in the back seat, one in the trunk, and one in the passenger seat. What a great car! And thanks to LMR who stayed late to meet me at their new shop and helped me load everything up. Great guys @ LMR!
