That looks great!

I used to do a lot of woodwork as a hobby during my teens, to the point where I nearly became a cabinet maker. I still love the smell of freshly cut timber.
Thanks! Coming along. Should be throwing first coat of finish on it tonight. Gets stuffed into a carry on bag in 5 days. Will have to wrap it in a ziplock I think so the wife’s stuff won’t stink. Miter keys for aesthetics and strength.

Not familiar but how do what I think are the miter keys increase strength?

The keys are the glued in pieces that will be cut and sanded flush. Here's a great explanation. Many call them splines but a spline really is different, he should be calling these keys...

I got tired of having all my fluids in cabinets and I would forget what would be up there, etc. I bought this shelf off amazon for 40 bucks, and its pretty sweet. works out. its 100% sturdy but im going to put a little U bracket or some sort to double check to make sure its safe and not ever going to topple over from something crazy.

oh and theres my grabber blue substitute til I get a new mustang. D:

I am thoroughly impressed with it for what it is.

Love detail like that.

I used to watch a lot this when I was younger.

That guy has just about every single wood working tool known to man. At 14 or so, I could only but dream on a sliding table saw!

What I found most interesting about that show, was the hand tool usage.

Needs to be back on, replace some of the current crap.

Thank you. Ripped material in half with table saw and hand planed to desired thickness. Lid is one piece with edges cut down with table saw and chisels. Lots of sanding both by hand and with palm sander. Still have another coat or 2 but this is basically all done.

I did find a local place I can source some purple heart (my favorite!) and walnut (close second favorite) wood but I don't have a good idea of what I want to make just yet. Next up is bulldozing the wife's office (she's messy) and then throwing is some custom shelving. Sucks because I'm Mr. Efficiency but her ADHD dictates the shelves need to be made is such a way everything can be seen. She loses track of it if it's not in plain view, hence the clutter or "messy" lol. After the closet, I'll be making a friend a hexagon gaming/dining table, maybe I'll throw some purple heart into that for color accent...

Nice box! Well done.

A buddy is into woodworking big time. He made me these pistol boxes which are made so precisely it blows my mind. The little pieces in the lid of the one on the left (purple heart is one of the woods, I forget the others) are individual with no discernable gaps between, and it's the same inside. He built the bar that they are sitting on as well.

The same friend made two of these end tables about 20 years ago. They slip over a standard 10 gallon fish tank. Nice indirect lighting in the family room.

Hello; I started a project two summers ago. Building a wall on the edge of my driveway. I do about 42 inches of wall at a time. The pictures are from last fall right before i stopped when it began to freeze at night. Yesterday and today I hand dug about five feet of additional trench. had mild temperatures and it has been dry a few days. Decided to get a head start on the digging and hauling away rock and dirt so to be ready to set my form and pour another section when it starts being above freezing at night. It is also easier to do the work now before it gets so hot in the summer.
I filled up and hauled off 16 five gallon buckets yesterday and today.

The holes are drilled into the concrete and i pound in 1/2 inch rebar about 8 to 12 inches. I hope that ties the sections together.

Thanks for the info. I had been looking for a small corner shelf primarily to get my wheel cribs off the floor in case of any water intrusion around the end of the overhead door, not to mention gain a little more storage for other items. Sturdy little unit. :like:
