Looking for something similar for my office. Where did you get the wall paneling if you don't mind me asking? Thank you!
Not a problem. I grabbed the Finished Elegance from HomeDepot and them cut to size in the store. Measure twice so they can cut once! Wood, even MDF, is expensive nowadays.
FINISHED ELEGANCE 1 in. x 4 in. x 8 ft. MDF Moulding Board-10003222 - The Home Depot

I did get a hand saw from Harbor Freight to make some custom cuts as well. Not sure if you have one in your area but they have a hand saw and miter box combo for $10 that was perfect for the weird custom cuts.

Thanks for taking interest. It has been a lot of work, but rewarding. Still nowhere near done.

Yeah that counts . What a beautiful home and property. Relocating or downsizing?

Staying in the area, but looking for a little less property. Looking to buy something a few K cheaper, and go mortgage free at 35! That's my main motivation for the move, and less work around the 10acres

I wish mine only heated up to 85. It is well insulated but the roof purlins transmit heat like crazy. I have the A/C on a schedule to run from 12-6am to cool the concrete and maximize efficiency. If heats up during the day regardless but the a/c seems to get a nice cool layer at work level when I am working in there after about 30 mins of run time.
Mine is built like a house (shingled and sided, drywalled inside) with room-in-attic rafters and plenty of insulation, so the heat doesn't easily penetrate. I think the reason it never really gets hot inside is that the concrete stays cool. It helps a lot that there are trees shading the sides that would otherwise see sun.

Added one more pseudo yoga mat to the house. I've been slowly and strategically placing area rugs down with thick padding as a stretch mat alternative.

My basement workshop is undergoing a decades long needed organize. Small house and I can't build out, so mostly going up. Yes, I accumulate stuff. Another month and it should look like something.

Rebuilt some outdoor stairs a couple years ago with Bonnie "trying to assist"

I tried to fix the drainage problem that the previous set had. It worked for a little while, but ultimately there's too much pooling at the bottom that the yard can't absorb. Gonna have to redo it all again in short years with even better drainage.

So a wood worker, and nicely equipped. Looks like a shop/garage that actually produces things. I like it.

It would be nice to see what people do as decoration or wood working stuff if anyone does that. Like garages, man caves, additions, furniture, anything... see how people live and what they like. Maybe we can learn a few things from people on here. Would be neat.
Hmmm, that'll open a can of worms (or two)...

Wed, had tree cut down. Thru. stump ground. Today I spent maybe 3 hours raking lawn, moving 25-30 wheelbarrows of the mulch left to under a row of lilac's. More to move, then dirt fill, seed, etc. Boy a lot more sun comes in now!!

Cleaned out the all of the kitchen cabinets and pantry today. Packed everything that's still good: dishes, pots & pans, gadgets, spices, mixes, canned or bottled things. Probably threw out 40lbs+ of junk.

Demo starts this week.

I'll go through that stuff all again when I put it back. Then throw out more junk.

The new flooring arrived last week:
IMG_0683.jpeg

White Oak for the kitchen.

I'm still confused as to why the house was built with HW floors; with two different types of wood. It's red oak on the West facing side, white oak on the Eastern. Stranger still is the living room has plain uniform boards, and the family room floor has pronounced pegging and uneven board spacing.
IMG_0684.jpeg

Anyway...my kitchen is gone now.

The original Linoleum has been nothing but a bitch to remove apparently. After two days they still have more to chisel off. There are hundreds of staples securing it down that no one expected. A few other surprises: gas line for the stove is not in code compliance, air vents not really where they should be, some minor wiring.

All that said, I'm excited to see how this turns out!

EDIT: The pegged floor:

Since buying the house 3 years ago, we have removed 9 mature trees (most of which were planted far too close to the house- 27 bushes of various variety (overgrown, oddly placed, and beyond reshaping or saving)- and more plants than I can count. This summer we finally started slowly adding back to our mulched planting areas.

the “tree like” bushes to the right and left of the stoop are boxwood topiaries. They were perfectly shaped stacked spheres before growing over the last month or so. They can’t be trimmed until they go dormant for the winter.
The small bush to the left of the boxwood in the first picture is lilac. Same was done on the flip side of the stoop.
The tree all the way at the end of the planter in the second picture is a white gardenia topiary.
The flowers I just planted today against the walls on both sides of the stoop are lilies, “forever Susan Asiatic lily”to be exact. They can be seen in bloom in the last picture.

yes I need to finish the brick edging, I have yet to start it on the left side of the stoop, waiting for cooler weather
