I think the track alignment also plays a huge factor into it more than the tuning part. A properly aligned HP with the PS4S does quite well.
That’s fine, but it would still be compromised somewhat from original design using any tire that didn’t come close to the technical specs of the supplied as designed great cup 2 tires on track. Those things are beast tires.
It’s just a matter of simple engineering. More grip requires more force to control which required a spring rate change to extract the most performance-which is what the option is all about in the first place.
The Cup2 tire is a very different tire than the PS4S.
Your track alignment would improve any car/tire in track conditions for sure, but why bother having a track optimized alignment when not using the track optimized tire? Might it extract the best times you can get from the PS4S? Sure.
I’m sure the PS4S is fine with the bigger wheels it’s just better with the Cup2 plus a track alignment because that level of grip is what that spring set is designed, engineered for and expecting to see.
If I put the HP wheels and cup 2 on my PP car I wouldn’t be optimized either because of the spring rate, but like your PS4S I’m sure it would be fine.
I just feel that the best part of the HP is the Cup2 tires, so once they’re changed out it’s like…..what’s the point.

Yesterday she got new shoes. Decided to go with the Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02s. 305s up front, 325s in the rear. They ride fantastic, not quite as sticky as the Cup2s and that's fine for me. No tram lining like the Cup2s had. By the time they were done it was dark so don't have pics of her with the new shoes. Today we put on Steeda jacking rails.

Cup2 is an amazing tire. Does seem that many more Mach 1 owners remove them as opposed to GT350 owners who seem to keep them .

M1 owners are more likely to drive them almost daily than GT350 owners. it is not a daily driver tire

They are a great tire but they sure do tramline on the Hwy I drive on around here whereas the new ECS02s don't.

For me it comes down to the cost for Cup 2's vs the amount of life you get out of them. They're very short lived tires but as the saying goes, you gotta pay to play. They're very expensive per tire and it would be wise to snatch up any Cup 2 takeoffs people have from their new Mach 1's.

Installed my 5 Spur start button.. Much classier than the plastic factory piece. Took her for one last rip to make sure the fuel stabilizer was throughout the system and to give me a last rush of excitement for 4-5 months. Also gave her the last bath of the year, plugged in the tender and got her ready for a winters nap. Cover will be put on this evening. Sad day.

Took literally 3 minutes out of my day to install Steeda's trunk struts. Couldn't be more simple! Hood struts tomorrow (or the next day).

Small wing or large wing variety?
