I bought the GT350 a twin turbo V8 sibling :giggle: : Cayenne GTS Coupe

Exhaust sounds really good. Not quite as good as the GT350 but actually pretty close.

And at least now my wife can join me on track

Replaced wheels and tires; 2 spokes on my driver side rear wheel (P51) broke/split while I was driving 80 mph on the highway. I heard a loud pop, then a brief shudder and immediately pulled over. Wheels were 13 months old. First time I had to use my spare tire, which worked well on the way to my house.

Went with 20 in, Project 6gr, R-Spec ten-spoke in gloss black and had them powder coated in metallic-flake anthracite. Ordered last Monday and installed last Thursday. For now, I went with Continental DSW06 and will switch to summer tires in May.

I'm very fortunate that the outcome wasn't worse.

Did you strike anything? Reach out to P51? I’m bett’n they’d like to hear about that and even get the wheel back. I would hope anyway. Glad the result wasn‘t an accident.

Yeah, a wheel failure isn’t something you just go “oohhhh weeelll” about. That needs to be investigated. Potential for others to be driving around on failures depending on the cause.

I didn't hit anything or potholes, etc. while I was driving that day. I consulted a reputable wheel repair shop and they speculated that the wheel structure was weakened and it finally cracked. I'll send pictures to P51 but won't return the wheel because they were sent to a scrap/recycle company.

I was in the wheel repair business for 15 years, retired last June.
I‘ve never heard or seen a wheel crack without an impact, you’d be the first. I guess anything is possible but that seems very unlikely.
Has anyone else driven your car?
The Mrs and I were headed over to a friends house the other day for a quick visit. We took off from an intersection and a Porsche that was a few cars in front of us hit the gas and lost control, went up on the curb and almost hit a block wall. When we drove by, a young girl was riding shotgun and the kid that was driving was white as a sheet. The couple looked 18-20 years old.
All we could think about was “daddy’s car” and the kid was showing off. Fresh rain so the road was slick.

I found these Pictures from another thread about P51 wheels that cracked.

I'm the only driver (wife says car is to much for her). My car is a daily driver (70% highway/toll-roads), and during the time the wheels were on the car, I occasionally encountered poor roads. However, I don't recall hitting any major potholes that might have compromised the wheel.

The crack could have developed over time and finally failed while driving. I am just as surprised as you, because this has never happened to me with my 2 prior S550 mustangs, an '18 and '19 PP.

I'll be checking the wheels more often in the future.

Worth a share & watch if you have time to show the capabilities of the GT350 on the track & how it performs with different drivers at the wheel - enjoy!

Nice car. Are those OEM 500 wickers? They just bolted right up or did you have to do some modifications?

Got the GT500 support to swap in. Hopefully I will receive the Anderson Composites GT5 hood soon.

Any fighting in the garage going on between the R and the Prius. Nice car. Was a nice day for a drive.

I replaced the air filter and took it out for the second time since I bought it a couple of weeks ago! Drove to the local Ford dealership to check Oasis report.
