Those aren't going to do anything to protect the paint down the sides of the car.
I have 5500 miles on my car, and have never had any marks on the side of the car from rocks. Rocks only go through those opening, which those foam blocks fill. Therefore nothing gets through. If they didn't work, I would've went with the fender guards. But not needed.

Brotha I'm telling you if you got a light out and really looked, you'd see some road rash along the lower edge of the doors and fenders from sand/gravel. Sit down next to the door and look towards the front and you can see how much tire is exposed past the front fender, even more so when turning.

My car is black, so anything would stand out. And the only part that may get hit, because it stands out from the car, are the rear fender wells. And that's what the PPF on them is for. Along with PPF on the rocker panel below door.
But there is nothing. While on the front bumpers, hood, roof line, I have some marks, but they're in the PPF I have on them, so no worry about the paint.

I have rock chips in those areas.

I washed and detailed my car today, so I had a good look at the sides, and back fenders of the car. Sorry, no rock chips. In fact, all I see is my reflection in the mirror like finish of the side of the door. And anything you think are chips, is just dust settled on the car, a non-stop problem with a black car.

Not all of us have PPF anywhere on our cars. Iā€™d bet the farm most do not.
That said, the rock guards (flap style) designed to keep debris from further damaging our paint work well.
Before I bought my current rock guards, I was going to buy the AF Guards. Turned out he was out of stock and I needed them now. I ordered them before I took possession of the car.

If you watch the AF video where he discusses his development of the guards, youā€™d see they are effective.

Had the foam rock blockers at first. Always had to remove them when washing as water laid in there. Removed and replaced with Jager Bros. I'm happy with these.

I'm using the ZL1 version and have been satisfied with them.

Ditto. Had the foam blocks at first. Switched to these.
PPF also applied.

Paint correction and ceramic coating, PPF on the front end and window tint. (Pictures later) New wheels and tires tomorrow. Here are strut tower caps and a new steering wheel...

Totaled it by driving it in the rain and getting it wet. Two partouts coming soon. Drivetrains are good but all exterior body panels are showing results of natural moisture contacting them.
