Looked familiar, pretty sure I know the car and owner (Kieth) so just checking. 6S1615 is the Shelby American VIN, somewhat similar to the current chassis numbers. Full VIN would be SFM6S1615 but commonly shortened to 6Sxxx(x) for 66's, 5Sxxx for 65 street cars, and 5Rxxx for 65 R-Models.

Anyway, beautiful car with a super nice owner.
Yes, you are correct sir!, he lives just up the road from me.... forgive my ignorance of the Shelby Registry numbers... and yes, what an incredibly nice guy.

I tried to go to the drag strip for the first time but arrived too late for tech. Still an interesting crowd though!

I changed my oil today (13219.9 km). I noticed that the plug I've been re-using since I bought the car was a bit discolored so I decided it was time to change to a new one.

Yeah that's awful, it is sure to be seen LMAO... Not covered by the warranty, something needs to be done.

Bad panel gaps and discolored drain plugs are unacceptable, not to be tolerated.

In all seriousness though I wasn't sure whether the plastic was starting to become compromised due to heat etc.

I've read before that these are supposed to be one time use only but I'm not sure regarding the source of that information.

I believe the ā€œsourceā€ is the owners manual.

I'm pretty darn sure the drain plugs are not one time use only; that would be ridiculous. I have 20,000 miles and five oil changes on mine and not even so much as a seep or damp spot. What is there to fail??? Sure, after some amount of time O-rings can get hard and brittle; agreed! Inspect and replace as needed with an oil change. Not gonna happen over night. No moving parts with the plug itself to fail. To each his own, but I don't get the concern.
