I actually feel quite passionate about that subject.I know the electric dash in my Bullitt is more “ modern” but I really would rather have traditional gauges like in the earlier model. The electronic dash looks to flat and one dimensional to me. They should have given everything more depth.
While Ford have done a great job with digital gauge cluster screen in the current Mustang, in general I prefer analog gauges.
Think of it this way; There is no reason why someone should have an analog watch like a Seiko, Rolex, Panerai or Breitling. In theory, an Apple Watch is far more functional. But which one would look better on your wrist? Which one looks like a beautifully detailed piece of design? The real thing of course.
It's the same with a car, especially enthusiast cars like the Mustang. I like to see a real gauge cluster, not a flat screen as if I was playing a video game. The S650 sadly takes another step in the screen direction and looks like an afterthought compared to how they executed the current model.
If you look at how Porsche do it on their sports cars, they have kept an analog tacho and integrated it into a screen arrangement.
