I know the electric dash in my Bullitt is more “ modern” but I really would rather have traditional gauges like in the earlier model. The electronic dash looks to flat and one dimensional to me. They should have given everything more depth.
I actually feel quite passionate about that subject.

While Ford have done a great job with digital gauge cluster screen in the current Mustang, in general I prefer analog gauges.

Think of it this way; There is no reason why someone should have an analog watch like a Seiko, Rolex, Panerai or Breitling. In theory, an Apple Watch is far more functional. But which one would look better on your wrist? Which one looks like a beautifully detailed piece of design? The real thing of course.

It's the same with a car, especially enthusiast cars like the Mustang. I like to see a real gauge cluster, not a flat screen as if I was playing a video game. The S650 sadly takes another step in the screen direction and looks like an afterthought compared to how they executed the current model.

If you look at how Porsche do it on their sports cars, they have kept an analog tacho and integrated it into a screen arrangement.

Fixed :giggle:

Not sure if you saw the rather contentious 'Ford made a big mistake with the 650 dash' thread on M7G but it appears to have been taken down

Yeah I have analogue in the F Type and digital in our XE. The XE dash has all sorts of layouts (which you dont use, ultimately we settle for traditional 2 dials, media info between) and lacks the texture of the analogue.

I dont mind the Mustang digital dash though, especially in sport plus mode. I think in the Mustang I'd probably opt for digital over analogue if I had a choice, and in the F Type it would be the opposite, but I dont know why, maybe it is just that I am used to what I have.

From memory, the earlier F-Types had the XE dial cluster. Probably my favorite set of dials in the fleet.........

I just love watching a tacho needle dance across a dial, especially when set into a hooded binnacle like the Jag and Mustang.

My Falcon's on the other hand are relatively plain, but brilliantly legible.

My XR8, take note of the economy (or lack thereof) number....................... :giggle:

And I love the blue "crayon" on my XR6's set of dials................

Sorry, off topic but I did say I was passionate about "real" gauges.

Yeah the 2016 MY F types got a more detailed graphics setup between the gauges, but otherwise the same. The new XE has the electronic dash which is very fancy, you can have it in full nav mode (very distracting), part nav (quite distracting), split info (annoying), and a number of combinations (tiresome) or to mimic a traditional 2 dial, media info in between just like an analogue dash (perfection, except it doesnt have the texture of a real analogue). But I suppose if they didnt offer it, people would think they are being shortchanged, and anyway the HUD is so good you barely look down anyway.

The XR dash is very nice...

Sent photos to dealership telling them how unhappy I am and waiting for reply. Believe me, lesson learnt. . I don’t go to the dealer as I prefer specialist shops but this time I went for the reason explained above. thanks
After not hearing back from service manager I sent another email but this time on the general dealership email so everyone can see it and the service manager range back immediately to apologise for not calling earlier. They will arrange for the wheel bolt holes to be repainted by a specialist wheel repair company. I will do it next year after the Xmas break,.

Would you care to share with us the name of the dealership so that we can take appropriate measures if that happens to be the dealer we use?

And hopefully at the next morning meeting, the manager will explain how expensive it is to fix customers car after sloppy/lazy workmanship.

My approach to this would be to explain to the staff, as a group to not single anyone out, that mistakes do happen, but could they please pay attention to stuff like this as it hurts the company's reputation from one end to the other of the business.........a business that employs you and pays you a wage.

The manager did say it would be brought up at the next staff meeting on Tuesday 👍
