Had the Anderson's Composites “Track Pack” Spoiler With Adjustable Wickerbill fitted, wheels refurbished and Lakin plate holders installed, earlier in the week. Great job by Barry & Southside Restorations.

After putting one bottle of Ceratec in my engine late yesterday I took it for a drive today after work to the Spit. So far I have not heard any ticking

noises that I was getting.

Hi Peter good to see, do you have the 2k rattle also?
Hi GT550. No, no rattles just a bit of ticking which has increased slightly more after each oil change. It is not there all the time but was annoying to know it was there.

My car hasn't had the first service yet. It'll be due in November, (at a projected 3,500kms). My engine is perfect and does not tick or rattle.

Why would the tick start after the first oil change? Is it something the service mechanics are doing (not filling up the oil filter before placing it, or not filling it up to the correct level).

Anyone who can answer that will be immortalised in the minds of 2018+ Mustang owners. It's just one of the $64 questions associated with the 'bbq tick' and the '2k rattle' thrown around in the plethora of related threads in the Engine section. Bottom line is no one knows what causes either although one of them - sorry can't recall which - is thought to be the DI pump.

Ceratec has proven to be a popular cure for one of them but again no one knows why.

Hi Wolfgang. This tick first appeared as drove it out of the mechanics 5 minutes after getting an oil change at 1000klms. It didn't last long, perhaps a few hundred klms and then did not happen again to its 5000 service. Then went away again. hanging around a bit more after its 2 year service so I thought it was time to be proactive.
Yours being a later car might be saved this problem.

To amend yesterdays indiscretion regarding a dusty steering column, the Mustang got a detail today. Just couldn't live with myself! :giggle:

And, yes, the interior was dusted!

And the engine bay.
