What change(s) would you allow and still buy a Mustang? What changes won't?

With the Mock-E out there and looking at all the threads about the other variations that could have been has me asking:

1. What changes to the Mustang would I accept and would buy?
2. What changes to the Mustang would I not tolerate and they would lose me as a customer?

For me:
I would be willing to see the Mustang as:
Smaller in size
Lighter in weight
Lower seating position either with seats or stance
Make a fastback/hatchback
4 seater (2 adults and 2 teens. Not 4 adults)
improved aerodynamic in physics and looks

I would not tolerate:
4 doors
Increased ground clearance above say 6 inches
SUV box styling

What would you say are your allowances and not tolerate

I find it odd you don't specify changes in the drivetrain as deal breakers.
Personally I wouldn't be opposed to an electric or hybrid as long as it retained a two door sports car body.
I also prefer a more historic configuration of the dash. If they wish to keep the ugly screens perhaps they could be integrated better in keeping with a more traditional look or perhaps disappearing into the dash.

I would like a smaller, lighter car with much better seats. I am not always looking for the same type of vehicle, so I can't say what is intolerable. If it's a vehicle I'm currently interested in, be it SUV, motorcycle or Zamboni machine, I don't really care if it's named Mustang.

No 4 door.
No Hybrid or Electric
(And yeah, can we please lower the seat about 2-4”)

If Ford wants to go hybrid or electric, call, it something else. The Mustang should stay ICE only, until outlawed.

Electric may be the future but doesn’t mean we have to tolerate it anytime sooner than is legally mandated.

The next iteration will likely be a dual turbo 6 cylinder. Less “bad ass”, but more powerful and lighter I’m sure. I’m ok with that… I’d like to get rid of the back seats to reduce weight even more… I would like alcantara instead of stupid ass leather too…

I will not do a four door.

No hybrid/electric (you want eco in a mustang it better be that hydrogen based fuel Porsche is working on), no CUV/4 door....it pretty much must stay a coupe or convertible. I would not buy a hatchback either.

What I want: v8 (the day that goes is the day I no longer have a mustang), I want the classic interior cues back...round vents, dual brow, ditch the iPad on the dash...if we must have a tablet thing, integrate a larger screen into the center console - physical audio controls can go. Make it where it can slightly tilt toward driver or straight on and lock in either position..that would come in handy IMHO. Bring back S550 driver digital dash. Bring back subdued toggle switches. Put a damn PDR in this car.

No 4 doors. If I wanted to type r I would’ve bought one.

No tablet screens. To me the Mustang is about enjoying the driving experience. Not being able to watch Netflix or design disco interiors.

No Demolition Man style body. The Mach E was just someone at Ford trying to cash in on the trend of SUVs and being environmentally friendly with electric. The result in my opinion is basically the elephant man with wheels.

I'm not opposed to an electric but I agree with many of the sentiments above. It should not be done until it is legally mandated, and even then retaining the body style of the mustang versus trying to make it into something it isn’t would be definitely a requirement in my books.

To me the Mustang has always been a muscle car. Regardless of the trim level it has always been something that stood out on the road. Well there are a few exceptions. If that time has come to an end then so be it. The way it is the way it is. You don’t try and reinvent the wheel just because the modern day demands it. Nothing lasts forever, and if it is the dusk of the Mustang then, so be it. That just means I will take extra special care of my GT and hopefully be able to pass it to my son if and when he ever gets a drivers license lol.
