My previous car was Mercedes C200 Coupe. I liked the look, comfort and quality - but it was less than 200 hp and 4 cylinders…

We had a 1999 Arctic White Corvette Coupe.

Being septuagenarians we found that getting in and out of the Mustang was a little easier. Plus, once we got our Mustang we fell in love with it. Not looking back.

I have a 1980 Datsun 210 wagon, with the optional 1.4L and 5-speed transmission (now registered as an antique and retired from daily driving).
A 1992 Nissan 240SX hatchback. It has some bolt-ons, but still the original 2.4L engine with >245,000 miles on it.
2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (5-speed).

They're all different enough that I can't bring myself to sell one.
Sure, at 419rwhp the Mustang has got to be the fastest, but the 159whp Nissan has more instantaneous throttle response, and the 320whp Mitsubishi has a fun surge of power when the turbocharger winds up.
Then there are the matters of steering feel (and the Mustang's terrible lack of it) and pedal placement. Heel and toe downshifts are really easy in the Nissan. The Evo's pedal placement makes it harder. The Mustang's pedals a require a contortion that I can't do very often.

...Whereas I keep the little red wagon (tested at 43hp) for nostalgia. My parents bought it when I was 3 years old, so I've basically had this car my whole life.

Well, my immediate predecessor was a 2011 Caddy CTS 3.6 coupe. I fell in love with the styling of that car! Totally American, nothing else like it on the road. I tweaked it also immediately with a mesh grill and rear round center exhaust treatment. I really liked the V coupe, but couldn't justify the extra 20+k toll at the time. Had it for nine years until I decided to order my Mustang. It was a great driving car too. My friends called it the Batmobile!
BTW, this photo was taken at the top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia NP, Maine.

I upgraded from a mazda3 hatchback 2.5L N/A and prior to the mustang.. was the fastest car I've ever driven. Boy is there a difference

I got myself a 2022 mustang gt premium performance automatic with active exhaust, it's so much fun to drive. Haven't felt like I can't control the power yet

I don't wanna hear about the parking jobs everyone has nailed me for it already lol, sales guy made me double park to save a spot for the mustang when it got back from detail so I could move over my stuff

Best now by a long shot. The Dodge years were a dark and loathsome time. I won't even go into my wife and kids' cars.

1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, driven '83-'89
1983 Mazda 626, driven '89-'90
1990 Mazda Protege, driven '90-'95
1995 Dodge Intrepid, driven '95-'05
2004 Infiniti G35, driven '05-'18
2018 Mustang GT convertible, driven '18-present

I had a sweet ‘05, black on black M6 GTO, full bolt-ons (intake, headers, exhaust), mild cam, JHP short throw, LS7 clutch, 3.91’s, pedders street 2. I bought it new in Nov. ‘05. Always garaged and was in immaculate condition. Had a guy offer me $24K for it in 2017. Car still only had 41K miles. Like a dumbass, I sold it. Thought I was getting too old to need a fun car anymore. That feeling lasted about 3 months when I ordered my ‘18 PP2. Two different cars really. Only problem with the GTO was having to stuff a 275 in the rear. Traction was always an issue, but that car handled like a dream. Had it to 165 one time which was redline in 5th. Thought it had 180 in it, but my balls were only good for 165. Love my Mustang, but I still miss the Goat.
I had an '04 GTO. Did the Pedders suspension, a GMM RipShift, and a Bassani exhaust. I loved that car and daily drove it until nearly 130k miles before I got boxed into a bad situation on my commute home. Bumper, hood, headlights and one fender was enough to total it because the body parts were basically unobtainable.

I had a couple other appliances after that, but I think it was my lamenting about the GTO that made my wife finally say "just buy the damn Mustang".

Performance cars- 1970 Plymouth Cuda 440-6bbl, then in 1990 bought a 1965 Mustang 289 ( my son now has) then when I turned 66 I got a brand new Mustang GT 10spd auto. “The thrill is back”.

I love that jet fighter gray but why'd you switch Mach 1s so soon? Don't say because of black paint. lol (My car is black).

I switched from a 2018 Volkswagen Golf R. It was a Stage 2 E85 tune and it was crazy fast. The DSG transmission is amazing but I got really bored with it and worried about the longevity of it given its state of tune.

My Bullitt is slower (for now) but the V8 roar and 6MT are so much more fun to drive.

It was my first manual. And I wanted try another manual and also offroading. Turned out the mustang was way more worthwhile to own. Also I detail my own cars and I wanted to spend less time washing the mustang (haha I know you said not to say it was because it was black)
