Watching Dazed and confused and no mustangs? Why?

So I am watching Dazed and Confused and I dont see any Mustangs, why?

Dont know.. think they dont like mustangs. Its a movie with lots of muscle cars.

Oddly enough I put this on last night. There is a Mustang convertible in the parking lot at the beginning of the movie.

Pretty easy I think.

Muscle cars were always muscle cars, no exceptions. Mustangs could be configured to be muscle cars but the majority were not. When you saw a Corvette or a GTO you knew what it was. They sold a lot more 6 cylinder Mustangs with whitewalls than they did Boss 429s.
