I would not think the GT500 name would be Carried over to an electric vehicle. Ford typically tries to keep engines specific to models and would think they would preserve the GT500 ICE age theme with it.

Might as well get use to the idea of an electric Mustang. Electric cars are the future. As I see it that will mean that the price of gasolene will drop more so it will be cheaper to feed my 2017 Mustang GT and my 1968 GT350.
I'm amazed at how fast electric cars are. 100% torque from launch. Kind of changes the conversation about how fast your 700 HP+ Mustang is when you get beat by Tesla sedan.

Short of a rocket motor, I don't think anything goes to maximum torque like an electric motor. Probably why you never saw gas-powered RC slot cars. <chuckling>
