I drove a Gt on the second day. Not remotely the same car. Still a great car, just not in the same league. It is what it is. Me personally, I was raised to work my arse off for what I wanted in life. My old man had a saying, “look in the mirror, that’s the asshole that did it”, it fits more times then not.

Hate.... Yes. I've seen a lot of that around here lately. People are infuriated that they can't have a car like this at mustang GT prices.

I remember being at one of the GT350 track attacks. I gave my slot to my brother in law and drove a schoolhouse GT. It was not in the same league as the 350, let alone the 500.

I guess if I found myself in a situation that I couldn't afford a Ford, then I might be pissed off too.

Well, we each make our own beds.

Go ahead GT guys, flame away.....

You and I both. And that is the reason we are where we are.

Looks like you know a lot about throwing 30k in the trash 🤣
I've spend a lot of money on toys, but I can say with confidence, I never paid more than what an item I was buying was worth, plain and simple. Sometimes you just have to know when to say No, and just walk away. Impulse buying is something people have to work on to prevent such actions from happening.

Learned this a long time ago to. Those that brag about it don't usually have it, those that don’t, do. But, you do you. Have a good one.

Actually, you never paid more than what you personally could justify paying based on your means. Here's the thing. The Shelby is increasing in value based on the market. Meaning that the car actually IS worth the price. That is why it is called a "market adjustment". So considering that the market has adjusted to a more appropriate price, and you won't buy one, that means that you, and others like yourself, simply cannot afford this car. Otherwise you would have bought one at the current value.

The problem with people is they want handouts. They want to cry and complain and hope that their ridicule will magically lower the price. They say silly stuff like "the market will correct itself" or that things will return to "normal". Look, things will never return to pre-Pandemic prices. Even if things go way south and the prices do drop, with that drop in prices will also come a drop in wages or losses in jobs etc. So it wont matter if they drop to $60K if you still can't afford it. All the hoping and praying and crying and talking about what you can buy and how you won't overpay, all it means is that you will never ever own this car and you'll be stuck in lower trims.

You sound like the right person dealerships love to see coming through their doors. And that's OK, it sounds like you work hard for your money Just Like everyone else does. Its great we all have the freedom to spend our money any way we feel like it. Life's Good.

Its funny how many people thrive and live due to capitalism but when its their turn to buy they suddenly become a socialist for a moment...
Hello; Not clear where socialism has crept into the discussion. The debate appears to be between those who will pay above MSRP and those who will not pay above MSRP. Either way each person will be paying for the vehicle with their own money, not expecting someone else to help pay. Have I missed some part???
I am in the group who has not yet paid above MSRP. I do not expect a dealership to sell at a point where they do not make money so am not suggesting that sort of thing. I have always figured the dealership can make a profit selling at MSRP. If they add to the sticker, then they make extra profit.

The issue, as I understand it, is the perception of value. Some seem to figure spending extra is worth it because they get a car, they feel is superior and get it now. There are those who have the funds to do so and get one of the cars. There are those who would spend the extra money but just do not have the funds. In my youth I was in the latter category.

I can sort of see the point for a GT500 and other similar special cars as they have lots of mechanical bits which are indeed an improvement over a base chassis. Not so easy to see paying extra for a base GT other than a supply/demand situation. If one or both of my current vehicles go bad, I might have to rethink my stance and pay the extra to have something new.

Anyway, I do not see the socialism angle.

I personally would not pay ADM especially right now, when there is a good chance that there may be a lot of good deals next spring if our economy does take a nose dive.
Also would like to see how much of the ADM that dealer will offer you a year from now if you try to trade it in. If the economy gets hit hard enough there may be some great deals in a year or so on the GT5oo's.

no, it means that SOME people (recent hopeful buyers) either WANT the car bad enough to pay the current/local premium, or do indeed think Ford underpriced the offering. Then there are others who think Ford's MSRP was rich to begin with and regard the current mania as just that.

Remember when GT350R were discounted 7 grand back in 2019 just to get them off lots?

If I have 200,000 in the bank with which to buy a car, I absolutely can AFFORD the Shelby, markups intact. That I'm unwilling to spend the money because it's a bad value trade-off has nothing whatsoever to do with 'afford'.
