I have a CB radio in my race car hauler so I can stay in touch with other racers I am traveling with. Unfortunately , the CB signal does not travel very far and very few people use a CB now. I have a hard time finding the channels the truckers use today . I don't know if very many truckers use CB radios to communicate very much anymore.

I have a Cobra 75 in my wifes Jeep. It has all of the controls on the mic so it is bigger than a standard mic. But the nice part is you can mount the small brain box under the seat or dash. You would still need to figure out where to mount an antenna though.

It's been a good little radio and I would buy it again for what it is used for.

Another option could be a walkie-talkie style cb. They definitely do not have the range, but that is mostly due to the antenna. They also eat batteries, so if you would go this way make sure you get one that can be plugged in to 12v as well.

But the nice part is you don't have anything permanent in the car.

You should still be able to get line of sight distance out of it.

I had one of these in my Bronco which I used when out on the trails, great unit. Kept it after selling the truck.

...I'd just poke a hole in the rear bumper and mount
a 102" whip antenna w/a racoon tail and be done..............
